Which is better, to exert your will or to go with the flow?

I am, by nature, a go with the flow kind of person, but I usually find the most satisfaction from exerting my will.

Cindy, 41

Obviously, it's best to do whatever the right thing is. As a general rule I like to go with the flow but when it comes to moral issues, I think you have to do what you know to be right.

Reba, 57

Depends on the situation. If its not really important to you, sometimes its best to avoid conflict and just deal with it. If its an important issue to you it might be worth fighting for it.

Talia, 25
Redding, CT USA

It depends on the situation. If exerting your will can have a positive effect and the issue is something you care about, then you should exert your will. If the issue is unimportant to you, or if your efforts will have no avail, you might as well go with the flow.

Jane, 63
West Linn, OR USA

It depends entirely on the situation.

Keri-Jade, 23
Brampton, Ontario CANADA

Doh, it depends on the situation! It's important to pick your fights carefully. If you continually exert
your will, you will rub some people the wrong way regardless of the justice of your causes. Some day you may need those people. Save your energy and their good will for the causes that are most important.

Cathie, 53

I'm too old to delight in Cosmic Dilemmas. To my mind circumstances change and so should coping strategies.

It depends on the situation. If its something I cant change I'll just go with the flow. If its something I want to change and I possibly can I will exert my will.

Em, 16
Harrisburg, PA USA

There is a time and place for both

Cara, 18
Valparasio, IN USA

I'm a guy who just kind of goes with the flow. I just take things as they go, and adjust accordingly.

Exert your will

Melodi, 19
Gahanna, OH USA

That DEFINITELY depends on the situation. On big stuff that involves your own fate, you should
definitely exert your will. But not all little stuff is very important.

Karen, 23
Ames, IA USA

It really depends on the issue. If it's going to the movies, go with the flow. If it's an ethical dilemman, exert your will.

Karen, 23
Ames, IA USA

Too vague. I have to believe it depends on the situation.

Fisch, 47

To know when to do which.

Alias Irrelevante

It depends on the situation. Usually I'd say go with the flow, but if it's something really important, you need to do what you can.

Judy, 62
Easton, KS USA

Depends on the incident.

Stephanie, 25
TX USA

I don't know...I tend to go with the flow myself. I don't particularly care for someone who exerts their will..so I guess in my case, it's better to go with the flow!

Tam

Go with the flow. Unless I feel Really strong about the issue.
