Have you ever hired someone for a job?
I've never been
in a position to hire anyone. I've been a manager at a couple different
jobs, but have never been the one to decide who should be hired.

Yes I hired women
for my tanning salon I had in the late 90's. Two were daughter in laws
and there was no problem. One was a girl from the bank I knew a long time
that wanted part time work for the holidays. And a young high school girl
that was an A student and was 16 but passed away at 21 with cancer.

Yes, I've hired
technicians to work with me on some environmental jobs and I've also hired
baby-sitters to take care of my son when the need has arisen.
Tam
Yes I have -- probably
a dozen times.
Laura,

Yes, actually I
did. A few years ago when I was living in Texas, my husband and I were
asked by the Genealogical Society of Utah if we would like to spend the
summer preparing court records of Belton, Texas for photocopying. We were
delighted to earn some extra money doing something we loved. There was
a lot of work so we were told to hire a couple of people to help us so
we hired a couple of our genealogy buddies.

counts.

I have been one
of the interviewers for a job applicant--she was to replace me. I try
to hire house cleaners with very little luck.
Jill,

I was kinda part
of the process. There was an open position for a one-on-one teacher in
my classroom. Since it was my room and I knew the child well, I went to
the interviews and asked questions of the interviewees. I didn't, however,
make the final decision.
Tracy,

to fire people!

folks over the last couple of years.
Felicia,

No.
Melissa,

I don't think so,
no. I mean, I've gotten people to pet-sit, but they usually do that for
free.
Karen,
23
Ames, IA USA
Over the years,
lots of people. The most important thing I have learned is that, provided
the basic skills are there, you have to choose someone whose personality
meshes with the rest of the team.

Only a couple of
my kids to paint the house one summer. But I don't think that counts.

sometimes it has even been a good choice.
Cindy,

I
have. I had a side business that did yard work. I hired my best friend
for a particularly large job that required more people. He worked for
a case of cheap beer. Cheapest labor I ever got!
