Do you think it would be a good idea if your workplace followed an "open-book" management philosophy?

No.

Reba, 57
Gaithersburg, MD USA

I think that type of management requires a high level of trust within the department/company, so it wouldn't work everywhere.

I'm afraid I dont understand what you are asking.

What is open-book management?

Judy, 62
Easton, KS USA

Yes. Then everyone would be paid what their worth.

Em, 16
Harrisburg, PA USA

No.

Fisch, 47
Preston, CT USA

As I work on a contract basis and am never part of the corporate structure of the company that provides my workspace, I really do not care whether there is an open book policy. However, as a former company owner, I practiced a relatively open style of management, but there were some things that I felt did not belong being shared by everyone.

Jane, 63
West Linn, OR USA

My workplace has, like, three people on the payroll. I know my salary is no secret. So I don't think I get a lot of say in the matter.

Karen, 23
Ames, IA USA

I think I'd like to see it tried. At least it would be one less area to put up with gossip.

No, not really. There would be jealousies and bad feelings.

I work with 11 people. Everyone knows everyone elses business but salaries. I think that I would have to quit then.
