Do you prefer to be the driver or the passenger?

If it's a car I don't know (or if it's someone else's car and the owner is with me), I prefer to be the
passenger. I also prefer to be the passenger if my husband is in the vehicle, because for some reason I almost always drive badly when he's riding with me. But if I'm NOT with my husband and I'm familiar with the vehicle (and I am the owner or the owner isn't with me), then I prefer to be the driver. If all that makes any sense. In other words, I like to drive automatic Jeep Cherokees, Grand Cherokees, or Wagoneers, plus most automatic small cars, as long as my husband isn't along and the car's owner isn't a passenger.

Passenger, but only in the front seat. I get car sick in the back!

Tracy, 24

Driver

Tam

it depends.

Melissa, 20
PA USA

I like to have control of the wheel, and the radio.

Ryan, 29
Morton, IL USA

Always the driver except for one exception. I'd let my one friend be the driver and I'd be the passenger. He has got to be the best and most patient driver I know and I feel safer riding with him than with my own driving.

Em, 16
Harrisburg, PA USA

the driver

Melodi, 19
Gahanna, OH USA

I like being the passenger, so I can sleep. It took a while before I could sleep while my kids drove, but now I'm very comfortable with it.

Cathie, 53
Novi, MI USA

the driver. it's nice to be a passenger once in a while though :)

Alice, 0

Passenger. I hate feeling responsible for the safety of the other people in the car. :P

Talia, 25
Redding, CT USA

I prefer to sit and let someone else drive - I'm something of a guy with a freewheeling imagination, and so being a passenger allows me to utilize that imagination without having to concentrate on
anything. I'll drive, however, if I need to.

Jared, 0
Crestline, CA USA

It depends on who I'm driving with. I don't mind being the passenger if I trust the driver.
Jane, 63
West Linn, OR USA

In most cases I prefer to drive... except when I've been drinking or am just really tired.

Doug2, 30
Overland Park, KS USA

I get car sick very easily so I must drive or I'll get sick. But I enjoy driving anyway.

Stephanie, 25
TX USA

Driver... almost always.

Fisch, 47
Preston, CT USA

Driver! At least then I know why I have pressed the brakes and can feel the car's guts turning under my hands and feet.

Firelady, 24
Frisco, TX USA

I prefer to be the driver. I have in my 40 years of driving. I feel more comfortable. If I am the passenger I get sleepy on a long trip. So when we go on vacation anywhere from 500 to 1100 miles I drive the whole way with only stopping for the restroom or eat.

Marci, 57
OH USA

Driver.

Alias Irrelevante, 0

Usually the driver - I love driving. I hate motorways, though, so I'd rather be the passenger then.

Aly, 17
Cardiff UK

After you've been driving for a while, you just can't be a good passenger anymore.

Keri-Jade, 23
Brampton, Ontario CANADA

I prefer to drive. It's a control thing. And now that my son has a driver's permit and I have to be the front passenger while he drives, I really wish I could be the driver.

Janet, 45
E. Brunswick, NJ USA

I am badly lacking a reliable sense of direction and dislike driving to unfamiliar destinations. On the other hand, there are some risk-takers I avoid riding with, whatever the destination.

Jill, 61
Saylorsburg, PA USA

Driver!

Ashley, 20
Jacksonville, FL USA

I'm lazy. I'd rather ride.

Judy, 62
Easton, KS USA

As I don't know how to drive, I much prefer being the passenger.

Reba, 57
Gaithersburg, MD USA

Driver, most of the time.

Cindy, 41
VA USA

depends on how tired i am an such, but usually i like to drive

Cara, 18
Valparasio, IN USA

I'm usually the driver since my husband doesn't know how to drive (and shouldn't be driving since his vision is terrible). So I'm used to driving and don't even think about it. However, being a passenger is kinda fun.

Laura, 37
Lowell, MA USA

I enjoy both roles. I love to drive when I'm completely alone and have a far away destination. If others are sharing the ride to the destination, however, I prefer to be the passenger.
