What is your favorite sound?

My favorite sound would have to be when the Legendary Big Guy Sarge would make this...sound when I pressed his belly, or started scratching it...I cannot describe it, but he would make a sound...boy I miss that sound.

Musically, the sound of a piano making beautiful melodies. Emotionally, the sound of a baby's giggle or a child's laugh. Sensually, the sound of ocean waves as they break off shore, and a pounding thunderstorm.

There are a few.... The sound of a Hammond Organ when used in Rock/Pop music, the sound of my alarm going silent for another seven minutes of snooze, and the sound of an 80s song in MIDI format.

I don't know. There are sounds I like, but I can't think of a favorite.

I don't know if it's a favorite sound, but it does get me laughing every time. My dogs occasionally start howling. They sit in a circle facing each other and they just start howling and yipping. It makes my husband nuts, but it makes me laugh.

Dry but lively long grasses and willow trees rustling softly in a summer breeze.

Oh, too funny. I have several. One is falling rain, another is thunder. But a sound that really makes me happy is the cell washer in our lab. It makes this nice "chink chink chink" sound that's pleasant to hear. Don't know why, but I really like it.

I love the sound of my lake in the summer. Waves lapping onto the shore, boat motors and jetskis, and people outside. Sometimes you hear music from other people's houses, or cars, or even chainsaws and things like that. I guess it's just how summer sounds to me. Everything sounds alive.

My wife's voice. Honestly. I love hearing her voice. She calls me almost every day and I just love hearing her. Always, no matter the situation, she brings me to a better place just by hearing her voice.

Bells. The composer who did the Amelie soundtrack, Yves Tiersen (I think) uses some kind of bell or xylophone and it's really beautiful.

I have 'favorite' sounds at different times of the year. I love the sound of the dawn chorus - the singing of many birds first thing in the morning. In early spring, I enjoy the spring peepers, and in November, you can't beat the sound of thousands of snow geese. But I guess my all-around favorite sound is the sound of the seashore with waves lapping the shore and seagulls and shorebirds calling.

Laughter. Or bells. Someone (I don't know who, but surely it was someone) once said that the ring of bells is the sound that flowers make when they laugh.
