How do you control your anger?

By usually not expressing it. Anger and tempers scare me.

Keri-Jade, 23
Brampton, Ontario CANADA

I don't get very angry very often, but when I do I try to work through it by remembering that you can't change other people, you can only change your response to them. I try to step back and look at the situation from a different perspective.

Best way for me if I'm really angry about something is to get out and take a short drive. For some reason, this calms me tremendously ~ maybe it's my fear of being out of control at the wheel... but when I drive my car, somehow I mellow right out.

I will take ridiculous steps to avoid confrontation or conflagration. Unfortunately, that sometimes leads to hidden anger coming out sideways for some offbeat reason.

By trying not to lose it.

Stepping out for air, going for a drive, going to the gym. If none of these option are available I try imagine how funny these things would be if they were happening to someone else.

Lately I've taught myself to concentrate on touching my right knee with my right hand. If standing, I scratch the inside of my left ring finger with my left thumb.

Digging my nails into my palms often helps. Or soothing myself with a bath or something.

I turn the other cheek.

Laura, 38

I purse my lips and say as little as possible, and wait until I'm on my own to unleash it.

Aly, 17

Cry.

Ashley, 20
Jacksonville, FL USA

As a matter of fact I got VERY angry today, but it turned into crying because I was just so overwhelmed. It's better than punching something or hurting someone!

Tracy, 24
Ocean City, NJ USA

I don't let anything stress me out. If I do get angry, I think and talk through it.

Stephanie, 27
TX USA

Not very well sometimes. I just try to take a deep breath, relax and do my best to avoid being angry. Doesn't always work, but I try.

Well, that is a good question...especially, as of late...but I digress...word up G...I was so stressed out over the weekend...for a variety of factors...that, if I had not gone hiking...I would have gone
balistic...and that is the straight dope...it is a lot of exercise, very relaxing...with just the right amount of danger...gnarly...Failing that...I frequently beat up the grants in the file room...that makes me feel better...in one case, however, I was trying to open up a cardboard box with scissor and...in a moment of frustration...I stabbed the cardboard box several times...word up...that is the
411...that is whacked...

Frodo, 31

Take a deep breath and walk away.
