Don't we pick most
habits up from someone else? I guess the most evil one was smoking because
it is a habit that is so hard to release - took me about 10 years to lay
them down and I still get the urge now and again. I quit cold turkey because
my grandmother was dying of lung cancer and I couldn't bear to visit her
smelling like smoke.

I picked up some
weird words from my friends. They're always calling things mormon or people
are doobies or blunts.

About 18 years
ago, Bill was in the military and for two years we lived in Germany. My
best friend was a German girl who asked questions by saying a statement
and then asking "No?" When we
returned to the states, I found myself acting what I thought was 'continental'
and asking questions the same way. It quickly became a habit and I usually
ask questions now by giving a statement and closing with a "No?"

Getting up early.
Until I met my fiance, I was always a late-night person. Now I am up between
5 and 6 a.m. seven days a week and I actually enjoy that quiet time in
the mornings before work. Catching the sunrise is a also a great bonus!

I've picked up
speech patterns from people. I don't think I've picked up any habits from
someone else, though. At least not in recent memory.

I've learned in
the last 4-6 months how to forget where I've placed random items along
with the blessed gift of procrastination, both habits of which I've picked
up from my fiancée. Her and I moved in together about 4 months
ago, and ever since I've gotten very skilled at both habits. Before living
together, I always knew where everything was in the entire house (it's
a major part of my obsessive-compulsive personality), where she could
never even locate her car or the TV, let alone the actual car keys and
the TV's remote control. Also, I used to be the type to complete all tasks
while they were fresh in my mind, where she on the other hand would make
a to-do list once every couple of weeks of the things that she could think
of at the time. If it didn't make it on that list, it never got done at
all. If it did make it on the list, then she had 2-4 hours to complete
it - because, within that short time frame of 2-4 hours, she would lose
the to-do list.

I don't know. I'm
sure most of the things I do are things I picked up from other people--my
parents
taught me to turn off anything I wasn't using to save electricity; my
husband and I have created habits together and I'm not sure where they
originated. . . I'm sure the second a good example of a habit I've picked
up from someone comes up, I'll wish I used that in my answer.

I don't think I've
picked up any habits from anyone else. All my habits are of my own doing.
However, there was a period of my life, many years ago when I picked up
the terrible habit of smoking from a friend I had been hanging around
with at the time. Thankfully that particular "habit" didn't
last long!
