Jill is right. As a parent, I'm on call 24/7. In fact, I was up last night from 2:30-4 a.m. I don't get to make up the lost sleep today. I have to watch the kids.
For a paid job, the most I ever worked with no break or lunch was 16 1/2 hours on the 4th of July at a beach. After 8 hours, our supervisors finally decided we needed something to drink and gave us eat an RC cola to drink while working. It was awful.
I'm with Jill. Other than that, I pulled some very long days at peak season when I was docmaster at a marina. And I've had a few 16 to 18 hour stints of programming.

Parents don't have time off.
I pulled a triple shift back in college.
Yeah, Jill pretty much said it all when she said parents don't get time off. Ditto.
I've done over 24 hours on security shifts a couple of times.

For pay, maybe 11 hours.
