A few times. The last time was about a year ago when a fairly young female pitbull was scaring the hell out of a mother in an SUV at a stoplight. The dog was just having fun, obviously happy, just trying to jump into the window. The driver sped off and the dog just started wandering a bit but stayed around the intersection. I pulled over and chased her down. She showed signs of mistreatment and neglect but was a great dog. If I had time for her I would have kept her. Instead I brought her to the pound.
I walked out to the mailbox and found a puppy. I pet her. She was very friendly and very muddy. She followed me to the door of our house. My mom saw her and immediately said, "Let's give her a bath." And that's how we got Scruffy.
Later, we heard she'd belonged to some people on the next block. They didn't want her back.
We were adopted by Georgia. She literally walked into the house with my husband and the other dogs. We think she was abandoned because she had a little mange on her face.

Yes. My dog was old and she just wandered away and someone found her up the street. I did get her back but it was very upsetting.

Yes. We aquired Blackdog that way. My son and I found him and 3 of his (dead) littermates in the our woods.
I've found several strays over the years. If they were wearing collars and tags, I'd call the owner. Otherwise, I'd call the pound.
Nope. Not a domesticated animal, anyway.
Of course, Shorty immediately comes to mind. I am prety sure the original Zeus was a lost cat. There probably have been others.

Yes, over the years I've acquired a couple of delightful cats who were abandoned.
