What is your house hunting story?

The worst house hunt I remember was one in which we had six kids, a dog and six cats. The hampsters were caged and didn't count.

Not so much a house hunting story so much as a closing story. My husband had asked to see the closing documents in advance of the closing so he could read them. The Realtor and the lawyer didn't send the documents. So we sat for hours in the lawyer's office while my husband read every word on every contract before he signed them.

When we moved to Oregon, I flew out on a Sunday to househunt. My goal was to find a house on Monday, locate nursery schools on Tuesday, and do some sightseeing on Wednesday before flying home on Thursday. I succeeded in all items.

I saw the outside of my house first and immediately fell in love with the deck. Fortunately, the inside was fine, too. The house got my house inspector's approval, my brother's approval, and my Dad's approval. It was vacant and in move-in condition, which was absolutely great because I had to leave my old house within the month.
