A question about the nature of death can only be answered by speculation. I chose to wonder, but not to speculate.

I'm pretty sure death is the end, but who's to say?
I believe (hope) that death is one milestone on the continuum of life.
I'd like to think that it represented moving on to a new kind of life, but there is no way of knowing.
I'd like to think that death is the passing on into a differnt "realm"...
My concept of death is it is one stage on the way to the next stage...where you wind up, well, that depends on what kind of person you are. I hope to wind up wherever all of my beloved animals are. I am looking forward to seeing Sarge, Shorty, Axl, Lars, Fletcher, Hercules, Butch, Mr. D, Zeus, Sybil, Iris, and all the rest of the animals.
Of course, I would like to get a weekend pace to visit h***, so I can hang out with those cool pagans like Alexander the Great, Hannibal, Ceaser, Auguster, and all those cool ancient dudes. My favorite ancient dude, is Socrates...
I believe that my body will stop functioning but my soul will live on. There will be a judgment and if I've lived a good life, I'll spend eternity in Heaven.
When you die, you end.
