I'm not a natural born speller, but I was raised with the notion that misspellings reflected slovenly thinking and perverted the grandure of the English language. Consequently I use both spell check and dictionaries whenever I suspect that my arrangment of letters is unconventional.
I hate it when people misspell words, so I really hope I don't do it too often. It makes one seem badly educated. Unfortuately our society seems to be becoming increasingly less literate. If I don't think I know how to spell a word, I tend not to use it, or I look it up.

I usually avoid using words I can't spell. ; )
I don't know. The words I can't spell right aren't the words I use that often.

sense... I keep trying to substitute the second s with a c.
Also when used as part of another word, like nonsense.
