Yes, I do know somebody who is looking for a job...me. That is why I have sacrifaced my weekend, sleep, and free time, taking classes to get a real job...people keep telling me, someday it will be worth it. I hopefully they are right. Time has yet to write that particular tale.
I know several unemployed people. Some are job hunting with more energy and flair than are others.
Yes, I have an acquaintence who is desparately in need of a job. Yet he's afraid to commute to chicago from where he is, because he might get lost. :P

My professional association includes a number of independent consultants, several of whom are seeking new projects at any given time. Programming is no longer the seller's market that it was four or five years ago.
As of this writing, everyone who is close to me is working.
