Sort of. I fill in at a rec center for the homeless when needed. I get a low hourly rate for it, a fair amount of which goes back to them in different ways.
Yes. I'm a lector and a Eucharistic Minister at St. James, so I help out at Mass probably two Sundays a month. This summer I worked six days in Habitat for Humanity's Blitz Build 2004. CathieA, 55, Novi, MI
I've always volunteered. What I do at present depends on how you define community. Locally, I volunteer through both AAUW and my church. As part of my college community, I serve on the Alumnae & Alumni Board.
Yes, I do. I am part of committee organizing a conference for young girls. My husband and I put together the Sunday social hour at our church. I am president of the graduate student organization at my college.

I sit on three local boards and contribute my expertise, time and money. I hope this has an impact.

I am a member of the local library's Friends group. We raise money to support library programs and to add to their collection.
