Dark, no sugar.

How does "one of my mates" take his coffee? I'll give you the answer when you identify the polygamists to whom the question is addressed?

Jill, 61
Saylorsburg, PA USA

I don't have a mate, and I don't drink coffee, so I don't know.

Since the office folks routinely take turns getting the coffee, I know the preferences of quite a few of the work "mates" and my friend / family "mates too:

Arthur takes it cream no sugar
Robert takes it black
Valerie takes it cream and sugar
Erik takes it cream and sugar unless it's really good and then he
takes it black
Charlotte takes it cream and sugar (I think - perhaps no sugar)
Mom takes it black (Dad did too)
Bill takes it cream and sugar (until he stopped drinking it)
Kathy doesn't drink coffee
Shayna takes hers black
Sarah with cream and sweet and lo
Should I keep going?

I don't do coffee and don't particularly care what other people do with theirs.

I have absolutely no idea. I don't drink coffee and neither does my wife. My dad does and I think he drinks it black, but I'm not sure. I think my friend, Kyle, uses lots of sugar and cream.

I don't know that any of my close friends drinks coffee.

We don't drink coffee often in our house, but when we do be it rare, we insist on lots of cream, lots of sugar.

If by mate you mean significant other...well...I don't have one, so the question does not apply to me. But if by mate you mean a good friend then I'll answer that she takes it with cream and sugar while I take mine black.

Tam

Mates? Friend, I guess you mean. None of my friends drink coffee, nor do I. My husband puts milk and Splenda in his coffee. He drinks a big four-cup container every morning.

My friend Ann, who is an author, writes at home but prefers to do her editing at her neighborhood Starbucks, while she drinks grande, non-fat,extra foamy lattes.

Jane, 63

Most people I know take coffee with a little bit of cream and sugar.

Nothing really abstract here, mainly just regular or black.

Now here's a story. My husband and I were married for a year before I learned that he drank his coffee black. I always made his coffee with cream and no sugar -- the way I like it. He never corrected me. It wasn't until my father asked him how he wanted his coffee, that I learned that he preferred it black. Now he drinks it either way, depending on his mood.

Laura, 38
Lowell, MA USA

My husband used to drink it with a little skim milk and half a saccharin tablet.

Cathie, 53
Novi, MI USA

Steph takes it extra large, two creams one sweetner.
