Do you have more stuff than you need?

My husband would say "Yes". I'd say that we have just what we need and no more.

Laura, 38
Lowell, MA USA

Doesn't everybody? Aseries of moves over the last decade has reduced the amount of unneeded stuff in my life, but I'm sure I could pare it down considerably if I wanted to.

Jane, 63
West Linn, OR USA

Of course.

Karen, 24
Ames, IA USA

I think everyone does. If you are talking "need to survive". Back in the day, all humans had was a pile of leaves and a cave, sometimes not even that. Think of all the other things in your house even down to a toothbrush. People have had teeth for years and we've only had toothbrushes
for a few.

Stephanie, 27
TX USA

Probably so. Of course, I think most people have stuff they like but don't really need.

Doug2, 30
Kansas City, KS USA

Undoubtedly I have more worldly goods than are necessary for basic survival and I enjoy them. Could I live without them? Yes.

Jill, 61
Saylorsburg, PA USA

Oh Jeez, yes! Tons of stuff!

Tam

Sure. Everyone I know does. I try to cut down but this is a very materialistic society we live in and it's not as easy as it sounds.

Reba, 57
Gaithersburg, MD USA

Overall, I'd have to say yes.

Fisch, 47
Preston, CT USA

Way too much. I keep trying to get rid of it.

KarenNJ, 45
Milltown, NJ USA

No, I just have the wrong stuff.

Alias Irrelevante

Yes. Not only do I have more of my own stuff than I need, I've got some of my kids' stuff, too.

Cathie, 53
Novi, MI USA

Of course I do.

Cristin, 25
Frisco, TX USA

Yes. I hoarde stuff as well, so I have too much of everything - except clothes.

Aly, 17
Cardiff UK

yeah, and I'm planning on having a garage sale within the next 2 weeks

Melodi, 19
Gahanna, OH USA

Oh God yes! But then again, perhaps not as much as others.

Felicia, 37
Lowell, MA USA

Certainly. It's falling out of my closets.

Janet, 46
E. Brunswick, NJ USA

Yes, and then some.

Ryan, 29
Riedlingen GERMANY

Oh my goodness, yes. I wish that could pare everything down to the essentials, but when I try my definition of essential always expands.

Cindy, 41
VA USA

Of course, everyone does.
