Should the United States have boycotted/pulled out of the United Nations Conference on Racism?

Yes, when are people going to stop blaming and looking for money for settlement. All people are discriminated against in some way or another, thats life.

from what I know about this, it seems like it was a pretty bad choice to pull out. . I don't recall the exact reasons given, but it does seem consistant with some of the policies the George W administration has agressively and (at least on the surface it seems to me) ignorantly enacted. . . .

I know nothing of this matter. I think I've mentioned before that I'm wrapped up in my own affairs. This is true. Maybe it's self-centered/selfish, but it's true.

All I know about it is what I just looked up at CNN.com ( http://www.cnn.com/2001/WORLD/africa/09/08/racism.agree.reaction/index.html ) and if I'm reading it write it says that the US dropped out because it got "politicised."

Ummm...aren't they politicians? Isn't racism kind of a political

No. We should have stayed and convinced Isreal to do the same. Nothing is ever gained by closing down communication and refusing to listen. I am also dissappointed that I live in a country that feels it can weild so much unilateral power (or at least to present itself that way).

I believe that our withdrawal from the UN Conference on Racism was necessary. Otherwise Israel would have been standing alone--and we have treaties with Israel.

Not at all. There is no use in avoiding confrontation on the issues in the Middle East.

No the US should not have left the conference. It was a political ploy. In my opinion, it had more to do with avoiding the issue of reparations for slavery than of singling Israel out as a racist country.

I have no wisdom and nothing useful to tell you -- I only mention this because it came into my head.
