What brings you joy?

The people I love. The beauty of nature. Certain works of music.

My child's laugh. His squeal of delight when I return from work. An accomplishment. When a child I works with learns something. My dog at play. The changing leaves. A panoramic view. The smell of cinamon. My husbamd hugging me. A warm blanket on a cold night. A walk in the woods. The glimpse of a bird soaring overhead. The first spring car ride when the windows can be down. The twinkle in a child's eyes. A moment of understanding with a friend. My husband's homemade bread - with butter or honey. Time to myself. Time with my family. Finishing a difficult project.   Celebrating someone elses feeling of success. An excited greeting from a child. A swim on a hot day. Friendship.

What brings me joy? Drinking Orange Juice when I am feeling sick (like now). Uh, my memories (in pictures) of The Legendary Big Guy Sarge, Axl Waxl, Shorty Worty, Iris, Sybil...and memories of all the animals that have  passed through my life...and of course my current animals, Dilly Willy, Lars, Morph, Cam-corder, and Nike... Also, writing brings me joy...although I may absolutely no talent at it...it is my bag...so that is what brings me joy...Ancient history (like ancient Greece, Rome, the Vikings, and Egypt)...that stuff brings me joy...of course, the Word Wrestling Federation brings me joy...Guns N Roses...doing interactive tests on the computer (to determine how screwed up I really am)...walking brings me joy...Alaska will bring me job (futuristically speaking). Freaking people out brings me joy...being though of as weird/freakish brings me joy. Reading brings me joy (science fiction, classic, ancient history)...the smell of old books brings me joy...Taco Salad brings me joy...Smackdown/Raw is War brings me joy. The Simpsons bring me joy. My brother brings me joy. Going to my Aunt's for Thanksgiving,  with her 5 dogs, brings me joy...uh, I guess that is enough...

Knowing I am safe and happy, not having any stresses in my life whether it be bills or life in general. Nature also brings me joy.

Joy . . . Hmmm. . . Not a frequent emotion. Hanging with good friends and solitude surrounded by nature.

Seeing my daughter come home excited about her great test grades. Having my fiance tell me that he can't wait to spend the rest of his life with me. Anyone showing any amount of appreciation for something great or small that I did for them. And, of late, knowing in my heart of hearts that our nation will prevail - even if it means kicking some serious ass - that brings me joy.

Lots of things bring me momentary pleasure but I don't think of "joy" as momentary but rather as a feeling of long duration. So I will say that living gives me joy; having a personal relationship with God gives me joy.

My wife had to go to the emergency room yesterday while I was still at work. When I finally made it to the hospital, I was greeted with a shout of "Daddy!" and my three-year-old daughter bouncing into my arms.   That brings me joy. (By the way, my wife is ok. The morale of the story is do NOT eat WOW potato chips. They contain Olean, a synthetic fat that is major pain on the digestive system. Go to the follow address for more info. http://www.naturalhealthworld.com/articles/olestra.html )
