How
would you describe your best friend?Ah she's the best, paranoid as hell but that's ok lol. She
gets me through tough times and thats what counts.
Dianne, 17

Reserved, kind, loyal, considerate,
adventurous, very very sensitive.

Hmmm . . . I don't have one best friend.
Those who are my friends either share with me a common history, an inquiring mind or a
desire to have a better world. Some have all three of these things.

trustworthy, caring, understanding,
thinks on the same level, amazing sense of humor,
really funny, unbelievable person to know, supportive, always knows what's best for
me...always, and a great listener.

MY BEST FRIEND IS A REAL INSPIRATION TO ME.
I THINK OF HER IF I AM GOING THROUGH TRIALS AND THEN KNOW I CAN BE STRONGER AND HAVE MORE
FAITH AND REALIZE MY PROBLEMS ARE NOTHING COMPARED TO HERS. SHE IS ONE I CAN TALK TO WHEN
NOT I HAVE NO ONE ELSE TO TALK TO. WE WOULD TRUST ONE ANOTHER WITH OUR LIVES. SHE IS
CARING, COMPASSIONATE, GENTLE AND AT TIMES MAKES ME LAUGH TILL I CRY. WE ARE AS CLOSE TO
ONE ANOTHER AS ANY REAL SISTERS COULD BE. SHE IS THERE TO LISTEN NO MATTER WHAT. I JUST
HOPE I CAN DO AS MUCH FOR HER AS SHE HAS DONE FOR ME IN THE PAST YEARS.

Interesting question. At my stage of life, I
tend to have a variety of friends for a variety of circumstances. All of them are
intelligent, courageous and endowed with senses of humor and senses of proportion.

I have five "best
friends." The first--also my boyfriend--is very vulgar and insensitive, yet
intelligent. We share a complicit distrust of society.
Another is a hyper, high-strung girl with a deeply embedded set of values. The third is a
patient, quiet, very sophisticated girl and the fourth is an articulate, clear-headed girl
with a propensity for self-pity. The fifth guy is a frustrated romantic with a fairly big
ego and an apologetic manner.

He's sweet and smart and funny and tall and
talented and nice to look at, with beautiful eyes. He's good with his hands; he's an
excellent conversationalist; he's literate; he's masculine; he's. . .How would I describe
him? At length, apparently.

My best (girl)friend, Janet, and I
grew up together. There's only three months difference
in our age. I don't remember a time when we weren't friends. She has been my confidante my
entire life. I can tell her anything and she just accepts me for who I am. She gives me
reality checks when I need them. She keeps me honest. We're OK being bored together. Long
silences are fine. We don't stay angry very long and she accepts my criticisms graciously.
I don't have to edit what I say when I'm with her. She thinks I'm a wonderful, exciting
person (which helps my ego tremendously). I can't imagine her not in my life. I'm very
fortunate that she is my friend. My husband is also my best friend, but in a much
different way than Janet. With the exception of only knowing me for 16 years instead of 36
years, my relationship with Dan is much the same as with Janet.

My mother1 -- sweet, loving, and always
understands me. She would do anything in the world for me and I would do for her as well.
We have a very special relationship.

My best friend is my Mother. She's kind, she
listens, she is very honest. She loves me, I love her. We know each other through and
through. I respect her, and she respects me. She's warm and wonderful. She knows how
to treat me like an adult, and she knows how to treat me like her little girl. We have
each others smile, eyes, nose, and thick hair. She's my WonderWoman, and I wouldn't know
what to do without her.

My best friend (my husband) is....my best
friend. I love him not only for what he is but for what I am when I'm with him. He lets me
be me and supports me in ANYTHING I try to do. When I succeed, he is proud of me. He is a
returned missionary and is a 'good' guy - honest, considerate, happy, helpful,
intelligent, and wise.

Believe it or not - my best friend
is my husband. He is the person I turn to, share with,
worry about, care about, love and spend most of my time with. We have had wonderful times
together and truely aweful times. We have fought the system together and bickered with
each other. We have rejoiced and we have cried. We have had wonderful times and found they
could not last. We have been through Hell together and come out fighting side-by-side. We
have learned and grown and changed together. I would not know how to describe him -
because most of his description would involve me. It is like we are a single being - and
yet we are very seperate. We support and encourage each other. We fight - sure - but those
fights are soon over and we compromise or repair. Life without him would no longer be
possible. He is part of the air I breath.

ive known kate and cheryl, two of my very
closest friends for almost three years and we've been friends ever since. we used to have
our own clique, so to say, but a lot of kids moved or left so its just us three now. i
love both of them to death and i can trust them with anything possible and i know they
wont backstab me or hurt me. my friend sarah and i were very close friends, like sisters
or twins for two years but this summer we kind of lost contact. we're trying to get back
together now so hopefully that will work out. thats sweet becuz sarah and i have way too
much fun together, we both have the same sense of humor and we're both into the same
things and we're always there to listen to each other. and katie is one of my best friends
because ive known her since the second grade, for eight years, and shes just always been
there for me.

She's stronger than I am. There's no way I could do
the things she does and not go on a homicidal rampage in the process.

My best friends are my sisters. I share
things going on in my life with them, tell them my woes and gripes and share in my happy
moments with them.
