Do
you think NYC should rebuild a similar World Trade Center? No. I think they
should build something short or no one will work there. Maybe a Museum like the Holocaust
Museum.

I'm not qualified to make decisions. I do
feel that the age of the skyscraper is passing, but at the same time, symbolism never
dies.
Jill, 60

From what I've been hearing, skyscrapers are
no longer in architectural fashion. I do think they should re-build office space in that
area. But there should also be a memorial park of some kind, too.

*shrug* Sure. Or a nice park.
Karen, 22

No, we don't need anymore
inescapable buildings. Back in the early part of last
century they were supposedly needed due to space limitations. Now, with communication
technology as good as it is, there's no reason why companies can't spread themselves out
more.

I think NYC should rebuild. I would not
approve of the proposals to duplicate the original buildings. The new buildings should be
a 21st century architectural statement that reaffirms the role of the city in World Trade.

I don't see why not...it has to be rebuilt
anyway.
Angela, 17

nope.

A replica? No. Some office space? Yes. A
touching memorial? Definitely. Too bad they didn't save those remaining façade elements
of the WTC and incorporate into a memorial / park

I'm sure another complex will be
erected, but many lessons were learned from this tragedy. I have to believe in my heart of
hearts that they will rethink height and go with a
number of buildings perhaps 40-50 stories tall. Frankly, they might have trouble acquiring
tenants or employees if they try to rebuild in the same manner that it once was.
Fisch, 46

Maybe it should be another architectural
design.
Patty
No way, that would just be too weird.
Besides, why do you think no one rebuilt the Titanic? Sort of the same thing.
Dianne, 17
Ontario CANADA
Yes absolutely. Its an important symbol of
New York.
Talia, 24
Wilton, CT USA
Yes, I do. Someone had an idea that sounded
really good...they said the towers should be built exactly the same and in the same place
with brass plaques inscribed with the names of all those who died that day lining the
outside of the building.
Jennifer, 19
Wilkes-Barre, PA USA
No. I dont think buildings that tall
are very safe, practical or necessary. I think a
memorial on the site would be a nice idea - but if that is not possible than something
smaller and less targetable. A building where people can escape if they need to is also
much more practicle.
Deb
Yes I think a new world trade center should
be built but not the towers. They should be smaller and less obvious.
Ry, 23
I really think that the WTC should not be
built on the property it was on, instead I think that there should be a Memorial made for
those that died there and I think when they rebuild the WTC it short be more buildings
with less floors and maybe bridges to walk from one to another.

`No!
There would be another attack
Melodi, 19

They can try, they could build it
exactly the same as a matter of fact, but it will never feel the same to Americans!
Tracy, 24
Ocean City, NJ USA
Well, let's see....in the 30-odd years
they've been there, they've been blown up twice. You'd think we would have gotten smarter
by now.
Kristin, 20
IA USA
Yes, NYC
should rebuild. Don't let terror scare you into submission.

Yup

I don't know if people will work in such a
high rise again. People are going to want a building that they can get out of incase of an
emergency, and not be such a high profile target. Sept 11th spooked quite a few people. I
think a memorial/solitude garden with everyone who died listed/honored in a new lower
building on the site might work.
