I don't exactly identify with her, but its my favourite series at the moment, Ayla from The Clan of the Cave bear, etc.

I can identify with Julia in "Nineteen Eighty Four" in that I don't like [my] Big Brother. That was lame, I know. I couldn't think of anything.

The literary characters I can identify with most are:
1- Holden Claufield (Catcher in the Rye) I relate to the character as a whole.
2- Oddyseus (Iliad & Oddysey), because he is lost for a long time, trapped, from his home and wife Penelope, and sometimes I feel lost like that, drifting away from how my life is supposed to be.
3- Richard and Kahlan (Sword of Truth books) Richard because he loves nature, is simple, tries to do the right thing without violence, and likes being off by himself. Kahlan when she enters into her "blood rage," which I feel like when I really get angry. Also, her sense of fairness.
4- Gollum (Lord of The Rings) whose good self battles with his evil self,
internally, to determine his actions. He isn't bad, but weak.

Rob from "High Fidelity"...I am the female version of him. Harry Potter... because I know what it is like to find something in you that you had no idea existed.

Ms. Elizabeth Bennett from Pride and Prejudice definetly. I have  never met a character in a book that more seemed like me despite the years that separate our existences.

Holden Cawfield (of course), Scout (from "To kill a mockingbird"), Pearl (from "The scarlet Letter"), William (from "The Hottest State", and Carrie (from "Sex in the city", although not a "great" literary reference, an enjoyable one, nonetheless).

There are a million, I'm sure, as much as I've read, but I'm kind of drawing a blank. The character who really comes to mind right now isn't really a literary character, since he's in a movie--that would be Good Will Hunting. Then there's the sprite in the Firebird Suite of Fantasia 2000--she's like me too.  I guess any fiction book that I've liked is one where I've identified with characters, because I probably wouldn't like it if I didn't identify with them. I love Philip Pullman's His Dark Materials trilogy--I'm reading the last book now, even though I don't really have the time. I like a lot of books. We're going to put together another bookshelf for my room soon.

Used to be Charlie Brown and the Hardy Boys when I was young. Later, it was Calvin and Hobbes and Dilbert. Nowadays I'd say Ian Malcolm (of Jurassic Park by Michael Crichton) and Rincewind (of the Discworld series   by Terry Pratchett).

Sometimes I'm a real romantic and identify with Snow White. I also identify with Cinderella because, like her, I want people to know there's a real beauty under these rags. And in both cases, the heroine walks away with the Prince.

I used to identify with feisty heroines, full of spunk and derring-do. Now I'm more partial to secondary characters who contribute patience or wisdom or hot baths.

Puddin'head Wilson (Twain), Hank Chinaski (Bukowski) and Dear Reader  (Calvino).

Alias Irrelevante

The character I identify with most is Tao, the Himalayan cat in "The Incredible Journey". Like me, Tao listened to what others had to say  then did what she wanted. She was her own person ( or cat) and no one told her what to do. Also like me, she was fiercely loyal.

I can't say that I've read a book with a character in it that I can identify with yet...

Bridget Jones!!!

I can't think of anyone off hand and besides the books that I DO read  are   Stephen King type books and who wants to relate to their problems? Not me!

I identified a lot with Jo from Little Women when I was a kid. I wanted to be just like her. There aren't any that I can think of now that I identify with.

Laura, 35

Pip in Great Expectations and Holden Caulfield in Catcher in the Rye. ..

Oh God... let's see: On bad days, Gregor Samsa, on bitchy days, Catherine from Wuthering Heights, on naughty days, Lucy from Dracula, and on regular days, well, no one really.

Amy, 23

Anne (of Green Gables) - Don't remember enough details to tell you why, cept she was imaginative and lonely.

Gee, I would like to be one of the Little Women, is it Jo-Beth the one who wrote it? And I would also like to be or to have met Edith Worten. She wrote The Age of Innocence, House of Mirth among other books. She was a member of the NY Fifth Avenue Society at the turn of the century. She certainly had a scathing way of looking at the unjustness and discrepancies of her moneyed society.
