What is the one question everyone should be asked in a job inteview?

What do you do in your spare time, when you aren't working. I think that question kind of lets you know what is going on in their life and what their priorities are at that moment in time.

I think it really depends on the type of job that you are applying for.For example: Retail-"How upkept is your personal space" -it will tell you how you are about cleanliness and order. Food Service-"How many times do you wash your hands a day"-it  will tell you of they care about germs and food handling. Customer Service-"What do you do in your freetime"- it would tell  you if they are outgoing and friendly to others YOu get the idea...

Are you a hard worker?

"Do you enjoy working long and hard hours for very little pay?" (just kidding, I couldn't resist) I guess an important question to ask of someone in the hot-seat could be "Why should I hire you over the next three candidates with the same qualifications?" At the very least the responses could be interesting.

Is this a riddle? From my experience, there isn't one question that everyone should be asked. Assuming that the candidate has the necessary skills, the main purpose of the interview should be to determine whether his or her character and style fit with the office culture, which is a major determinant of success in a position.
