How would you define love?

Around the time we fell in love, my boyfriend (now husband) defined love as:  Redefining yourself in terms of another person. It took me a long time to understand that, but I think there is a lot of truth in that definition.

I WOULD DEFINE LOVE A STRONG DEVOTION USUALLY A PASSIONATE AFFECTION TO THE OPPOSITE SEX AN INTENSE FONDNESS AND DEEP DEVOTION TO ONE. ONE THAT YOU MIGHT WANT TO SPEND THE REST OF YOUR LIFE WITH. YOU CAN ALSO HAVE A DEEP DEVOTION BUT NOT PASSIONATE WITH A FRIEND OR OTHER PERSON SUCH AS A CHILD, GRAMDMOTHER, AUNT, PARENT OR OTHER PERSON.

I would define love as a mutual energy given by two people that makes life a little easier and tolerable. There is no stress, hate, or jelousy in love.  It is pure and undescribable.

Love is feeling of total selflessness...a willingness to give up what makes YOU happy if the person you love can be happy.

I wouldn't. Any definition can't possibly be 100% true to the idea.  Just grok it.

A deep emotion characterized by care, giving, and warmth.

It's the next step up from "not 'like' but 'like like.'"

Definetly acceptance of another. Common interest, helps to seal the package.

Books have been written on this! Passion is not love, although it may lead to love. Enduring love is the state in which the happiness/well-being/future of the person loved is more important than your own.

Love means never having to say "What do you MEAN you cheated?" (sorry, hadda say it)

Love is a special feeling inside you, unique to every person. Every person, once they discover what this feeling feels like, can experience love all the time...be it love for a person, animal, beautiful place, emotional thought, etc. Everyone experiences love in MANY different ways, it's just that some people haven't opened their eyes to it and sadly some people never will!

I suppose it would be caring more about their happiness (whether human or creature) than your own.

You can't define it, it just is... but i'm not in a good position to talk about love right now, I just got an e-mail from my ex-boyfriend,  so I'm a little pissed off.

I'd try to avoid the question as much as possible. . .It's certainly a feeling. . .I know it when I feel it, and I do have the good fortune of feeling it quite frequently. . .It's an intense positive focus. . .or somesuch. . .

Defining things gets me into trouble--just ask Solomon or Allison.

Love in it's purest form is the most amazing feeling in the world. It's when you're sharing your total being with this other person whom you can't imagine life without, who you can't stop thinking about and whose flaws you seem to totally ignore. It's when you find yourself doing strange, crazy things to just try and see them or talk to them and you

Natalia

Personally I don't think you can define love... you just know what it is and what it feels like when you experience it.

Love is a crazy feeling you can't define.

Why should I attempt to define it when the poets do it so much better than I do?

Love is only what you let it mean to you. It's an emotion and doesn't  really have a definition. I do believe, though, that it exists in its purest form when it is a mutual feeling.
