What do you see when you look out your back door?

I don't have a back door.

Ryan, 29

Depends on what kind of drugs I took. I don't have a back door.

A beautiful pond, and sometimes even baby geese!

Our back door's on the side. We have a small patio (about 8x12) and a 6 foot tall wooden fence.

Alias Irrelevante

I don't have a back door to my apartment, but I do see the roof of the building behind me out my back windows. The back door of my building? An ally way with a building directly behind and dumpsters.

I don't have a back door - I live in an apartment.

My townhouse doesn't really have a back door, but if I look out from my garage, I see the townhouses across the cul-de-sac, the steps up to the next terrace of houses, and, if I look left, the same view across the river as from my front door.

Jane, 63
West Linn, OR USA

My deck (which isn't great), trees, a long span of grass that seems to always require attention and my shed. Oh, then my fence and my neighbors' yard(s).

Keri-Jade, 23
Brampton, Ontario CANADA

I see my neighbor and my driveway, my small shed and garden, a small alley, the next guy's house, a small retirement community, the Wawa and dam seagulls...everywhere!

Tracy, 24
Ocean City, NJ USA

I see the barbecue grill, the deck, bushes, dogwoods, peony shoots, tall grass (mine), short grass (the neighbor's), the neighbor's deck, and the back of his house.

Cathie, 53
Novi, MI USA

OOh OOh OOH lookin' out my back door! If John Fogherty could see me now! I see a little cement stoop and hanging baskets with flowers and a wooden fish wind chime. A patio with table and chairs complete with party lights surrounding it. A water fountain and a BBQ grill. Edging the patio are azalea bushes in spectacular blooms of fuchsia. And my wooden glider swing. Beyond that is a Chinese red maple tree. My yard goes back at least 250 feet more of green grass. Beyond my property are acres of undeveloped

The most conspicuous item in the foreground is a carpeted ramp, built for the convenience of an arthritic, geriatric dog. A Fact of Life in second week of May: The grass needs cutting. A more pleasant Fact of Life is with the leaves on the trees and the flourishing bramble bushes it is
no longer possible to see the road 100 feet away at the bottom of the hill.

Jill, 61

A compost tumbler, my garden and the neighbor's house and garden.

Laura, 38

The deck. Neighbors' houses. Trees. A robin's nest.

Immediately out my back door is a small enclosed porch which may or may not be occupied by any of three lazy, bossy female cats - Nulla, Chyna and Sunday. Beyond that is our backyard which currently features a birdbath (the cats consider this a buffet) and 16x8 vegetable garden. The onions are up about 8 inches and the green beans are a good 3 inches tall. This morning, the old man and I spotted corn stalks peeking through the dirt. Various dog toys are hither and yon in the yard. Below our yard is a large Victorian house that has a guest quarters out back that the elderly couple in the house rents to a family that has two young girls and a pair of bunnies. We don't have the most private backyard, but we have good neighbors.

A good sized yard, mostly flat... leading down to a very large pond. In the yard there are five big trees... maples. We have a small dock at the water's edge and the boat is tied up there during spring, summer and fall. Also, it never fails, when I look outside, there is always some sort of wildlife

Fisch, 47

The back garden - lawn, flowers, bushes, table and chairs, the shed.
