Which of the 10
commandments have you broken? What were those again?

The laws of God, the laws of man,
He may keep that will and can;
Not I: let God and man decree
Laws for themselves and not for me;
And if my ways are not as theirs
Let them mind their own affairs.
Their deed I judge and much condemn,
Yet when did I make laws for them?
Please yourselves, say I, and they
Need only look the other way.
But no, they will not; they must still
Wrest their neighbor to their will,
And make me dance as they desire
With jail and gallows and hell-fire.
And how am I to face the odds
Of man's bedevilment and God's?
I a stranger and afraid
In a world I never made.
They will be master, right or wrong;
Though both are foolish, both are strong
And since, my soul, we cannot fly
To Saturn nor to Mercury,
Keep we must, if keep we can,
These foreign laws of God and Man.
- A.E. Housman
Laws of God and the Laws of Man.
I'm an ethical humanist with a broad stripe
of paganism. The Ten Commandments are not "my" personal laws but they are part
of the cultural and ethical heritage of Western Civilization. While I have not wandered
and strayed like a lost sheep, I have probably broken all ten, in fact or in

It would be easier to answer the
reverse of that question. I have not commited adultery.
I guess I am technically free of the first commandment too. Since I don't believe
the Judeo-Christian mythos, I can not be held accountable for my all absorbing worship of
Christian Ricci and Angelina Jolie. They shit out redemption and gold as far as I am
concerned.
Anthony, 25

All of 'em. Just kidding. I haven't
killed anybody yet.

I stopped counting after three!!

Lessee...hmmm. Only one god? I don't
remember having that many so that one's safe. Lord's name in vain? Depends on
who's lord we're talking about here (there were a lot of lords in olde England). The
sabbath? If by sabbath you mean a day off, that one's still there. The parental thing...I
don't think Moses had my parents in mind. Killing...Is this strictly a human thing?
Stealing, lying, coveting...perhaps a little but I'm no way near the league
of your average tax-cheating, hellfire teaching, choirboy raping

stealing, covetesness, and, of course, worshiping false gods, namely, the allmighty tin head. Probably a few others, but I don't know the ten
commandments offhand. I never killed anyone or cheated on anyone though.

never murdered or adultered. I
actually only stole something once when I was 7 or 8 years old. I haven't really
covented people or things in any regular fashion. Although I have certainly done so
on occasion. I usually don't swear and haven't seriously dishonored my parents
since my teen years. All the rest I have tripped and fallen over many a times
especially keeping the sabbath.
Felicia, 34

Let's see:
I mostly honor my mother and father.
Adultery? Depends on your definition.
I believe in the Christian God.
I'm sure I have some false idols.
I stole something when I was five, but I confessed it
to a priest five years later.
I have never coveted someone's wife.
I have never killed.
I guess I've broken almost all of them.
Amy, 23

5 and 6 would be the ones that I
haven't, tho the wording on those things is not the
greatest.
Firelady, 22

None yet - but I'm not casting any
stones!!! It's actually hard to break the 10
Commandments. Luckly, I have very little to do with my neighbors. God must
have lousy neighbors too. (just kidding)
I. I Am The Lord Thy God; Thou Shalt
have no other gods Before Me.
II. Thou Shalt Not Take The Name Of The Lord, Thy God, In Vain.
III. Remember The Sabbath Day, to Keep it Holy.
IV. Thou shalt honor thy Father And Thy Mother, that it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
V. Thou Shalt Not Kill.
VI. Thou Shalt Not Commit Adultery.
VII. Thou Shalt Not Steal.
VIII. Thou Shalt Not Bear False Witness Against Thy Neighbor.
IX Thou Shalt Not Covet Thy Neighbor's House.
X. Thou Shalt Not Covet Thy Neighbor's Wife, nor his manservant, nor his
maidservant, nor his cattle, nor anything that is thy neighbor's..

all but killing

Let's see....now I have to remember
them all first...I think I have broken - not working on
the Sabbath, dishonoring my parents ( broken that one numerous times ), using the Lord's
name in vain. Those are the only ones I can think of right now. I know I have not killed
anyone, or coveted anyone's wife or property.
Katie, 24
Seminole, FL
I have taken the name of the Lord in vain,
ignored the Sabbath Day, borne false witness against my neighbor (or at least told the
occasional lie) and coveted various objects.
Jane, 60
West Linn, OR
Too many of them, not that I believe in that
stuff. :) Although I'm trying to uphold my morals now.
Aurora, 17

I've broken two...I've used foul language
and I think I stole something once upon a time. I'd like to meet the average Joe who
hasn't broken one!!
Tracy, 24
Ocean City, NJ
I think most of them, except having false
gods and murder, adultery, stuff like that
