Can you remeber the names of your childhood pets?
yes. most notably,
Rufus the oppossum.
A-Dog,
20
Eugene, OR USA
Of course! Jason
was my first dog, and Krissy (nobody's sure how her name was spelled)
was my first cat. Kitty (who was formally known as Tiger at the vet's
office for quite some time) was my next cat; Tip & Jay were my next
dogs. I had spiders I caught and named Webster & Webster II, a slug
named Happy, a snail named Goliath, other unnamed snails (I think I started
calling one Hercules but then couldn't remember which one it was), two
mice (okay, I can't remember their names, but that's partly because I
gave them to my Little Sister when I found out I couldn't have them in
my dorm--and she gave them new/weird names), a kitten my father named
P.A. and decided to make us take to the Animal Rescue League when an accidental
scratching occurred. . .in college, I got a frog named Dactyl and a tadpole
named Slugger. Slugger died, and then Dactyl died. By that time, I had
gotten a frog named Ghost, and she still lives with us. We also have a
new frog, Bernard. Okay, I'm not talking about childhood any more, but
I think that's all the official pets I've ever had (except for maybe some
insects on a short-term basis). There were also some wild animals we took
care of as babies--Cookie & Thumper, bunnies; a couple of unnamed
possums; some unnamed starlings; etc. And my family had a dog named Snowflake,
but I think Snow lived with my grandparents by the time I was born. How's
THAT for a lengthy answer? I hope I'm not forgetting any.

all our pets! Pierre was a Standard Poodle who was there when I was born,
Sam was a beagle-type mutt we got when I was about 4, I traded my rabbit,
Peter, for my Cocker Spaniel mix puppy, Buffy, when I was 8 or 9....we
also had a Toy Poodle named Boo...Dudley the Blood Hound joined the family
when I was 15....We had a cat named Arnold...a giant goldfish named Shamu,
various Guinea Pigs-Rascal, Lollipop, Bandit, Roo...my horse was named
Lucky...the others horses were Jasper (He was MEAN!!!),Tassie,
Patches, Trigger and Sultan...hmmm...my sister and I had many small pets,
mice, gerbils, hamsters (I do remember my two hamsters were named "Ham"
and "Ster"...hows that for originality!)...my Dad always had
hunting dogs...among those, I remember Uno, Boozer, Lady and Sherlock...and
I think that's aboot
it! Now I have an Italian Greyhound, Migma and a Giant Shnauzer, Blacky
(who was named by my son...wow...originality must run in the family! haha!)

I remember a few
of them... Buck was a golden retreiver, casey (or KC) was a pointer, chop
was a
pointer. We had several cats and I can't seem to remember any of their
names. It seems like one of them was named "chugger" or something
like that... I'll have to ask my mom.

up and his name was Teddy. A rabbit named Birch and a bird named Pete.

Let's see. Laddie,
Smoky, Reva, Flash, and Bebe, all dogs. Then there were Boots, Tinker,
and Tuffy, cats. I think that's all, but it has been a long time.

Yes, each and everyone
one of them plus my pets as an adult, and there has been quite a few.
Laney,

Only one. When
I was about 12 we had a purebred collie named Lani Dunster of Birnam Wood.
Mom got it at the local pound where an older couple had dropped it off
because they couldn't take care of it anymore.

Growing up my family
had two cats name Tiger and Tabby, two or three hamsters that I can not
remember their names, and fish who were without known names. My friend
and I hid two bunnies (Sugar and Spice) for all of two weeks before our
parents found out. We found Tabby on the lawn dead one morning. She was
seven. Tiger lived to the ripe old age of 23. The hamsters, fish and bunnies
all had very short lives.

Cotton & Boots

Melodi,

We had a little
dog named Peanuts. She looked just like snoopy but was only part beagle.
She lived to be 18 years old. We also had a Dutch rabbit named Frisky.
We used to walk him on a leash around the neighborhood... loved that bunny!!
He also lived long; about 8 years.

Teddy the dog
Birch
the rabbit
Skippy the dog
Zachariah the cat (he was really Janet's cat, but he lived with us)
Laura,

Lowell, MA USA
Absolutely! They
were all cats and my whole life there's been Patches, Tiger, Smokey, Princess
and Hobie. Who could forget their pets?
Tracy,
24
Ocean City, NJ USA
Of course. Dogs
were named Suz (also known as Big Bertha) because of WWII and the size
of her feet as a puppy; Jingle: and Jitter. A small turtle was named Myrtle.
Two large woods turtles were named Milly and Willie and a box turtle was
named George. Snakes were not named because they were on catch and release.
So were crayfish and tadpoles.
Jill,

Of course. I lived
in the country and we always had beagles. They were, in sequence, Wimpy,
Blackie and Dusty. Dusty loved climbing round-runged ladders (yes, I know
that dogs don't, but he did).
Jane,
63
West Linn, OR USA
The first dog I
remember was an Airedale named Toddy Aristotle. He slept in my sandbox
out back. The next family pet was a miniature dachshund named Ludwig Von
Schnitzel V or just
Schnitzel. Or as my dad called him Snitzel. He couldn't say it. Then we
had a German Shepherd - Tippy and two miniature collies Bear and Cleo.
We had one cat, Miss Patty Cat, who had been declawed but still could
catch mice. We had one black mollie (fish) that lived in a large brandy
snifter. I can remember her name, only that she died at my Grandmother's
house while we were on vacation and we buried her in a checkbook box under
the lilac tree behind the house.
All of our other pets went to live somewhere else before they died because
we moved around a lot.
