What renews you?

A good book, a good friend, a bit of nature or a change of pace.

Jill, 61

Movement (I.e. hiking, skiing) in the outdoors.

Good question for Ash Wednesday... spiritual retreats with people who share my beliefs; working with people who are committed to social justice issues; and naps on Sunday afternoon.

sunshine. and right about now, not having to steal to eat would be pretty good.

A hint of a warm spring day after a long cold winter, quiet time alone and good Sunday service at church.

Janet, 45

A nice hike through the woods, afternoon sailing on a light summer breeze, gardening, a warm cup of black coffee on a cold winter morning, curling up on the window seat with a good book, watching my dogs frolic through the fields, laughing with my son.

A good night's sleep will do it.

The beauty of nature, especially when I have a sudden glimpse of it. I love driving along the road and sighting Mount Hood, or finding a street filled with flowering trees. Also my grandchildren, who represent the future.

Nature. Standing at the edge of the ocean and trying grasp its enormity. Looking at the dark sky at night and knowing that countless others have done the exact same thing and felt the same way. Seeing baby lambs in the spring and the tender crocus plant pushing its head through the dirt. Watching a bird catch the edge of a breeze and ride it across the valley like an expert surfer. Seeing a child being embraced by his parents. I am renewed by the awesomeness of the world and humbled by my small part and grateful that I have an opportunity every day to make my corner a better place.

I need a VACATION and when I come back I feel all fresh and renewed and ready to go to work. (for a few days, anyway.)

My friends

Keri-Jade, 23

A trip to Colorado. A bubble bath. A genuine little-boy-happy smile from my husband. Walking
outside in the fresh air of nature till I'm exhausted.

As crazy and hard-to-believe as it might sound, I'm constantly being renewed. I'm in love - truly in love - with my fiancée.

Oh, well, that question implies I am able to relax...which is a incorrect assumption...I often say, with a great deal of accuracy, that relaxing is hard work for me...the only times I can remember relaxing...is my Alaskan vacation...nothing is more relaxing than running into three black bears...as I am by myself hiking, with no cell phone, and thousands of miles away from
anybody I know...I would have made a nice bear snack...

Anyhow...in terms of a answer that does not involve Alaska...I suppose I feel renewed after I go hiking...of course, no place has places to hike like Alaska...however, I have found some nice little places to hike around here...

Also, writing helps to renew me...at least for a while...of course, it is probably more accurate to say, if I do not write for several days...I get bent out of shape...I mean, writing is like cheese...I need it...to keep me sane...of course, filing drains me real fast...of being renewed...it is like 'bizzaro renew'.....anybody who knows me, they can tell you that I do not relax...relaxing is hard work for me...whatever...except when I am in

A nice hot shower... the sight of spring flowers growing... a good conversation with my daughter about anything at all... piano music... a restful night's sleep... completing a tough crossword puzzle... reading or writing something really creative... and a fresh bag of M&Ms.

A warm spring day with nothing to do, so that I can get my therapy out in the garden. Nothing can make me feel better.
