This doesn't put me in good light, but I
can't remember the names of any charities right now.

Any animal rights group gets my vote, I am a
big fan of the Anti Cruelty Society. Which reminds me, Bark in the Park is coming up for
you Chicagoans, please go and support the Anti Cruelty Society.

I don't have a particular favorite. Anything
involved in gay and lesbian and/or deaf causes could count. That's not to say I'm
not interested in other charities, it's just those are my primary interests.

My favorite charities are always
local ones, usually those either I or my friends volunteer for. My all-time favorite of
these is the Heights and Hill program for the frail
aging, on whose board I served for fifteen years.

My favorite non-profit
organizations are the ones that actually do stuff for the environment and don't feel the
need to send out a trillion letters begging for money. . .that way, nature gets helped out
without lots of trees and money being put out of commission.

I don't have a favorite. There are so many
charities that do such good things.

Soup kitchens. You can actually see
the donations being put to use. I don't 100%
trust many charity organizations. I have heard horror stories about some of them. One
local organization (known nation-wide) was abusing donations to the hilt. I don't suppose
this was a completely isolated incident. It makes you stop and think. At soup kitchens,
needy people can be seen there - eating a much appreciated meal.

I make most of my donations to local causes:
the libraries, the woman's shelter, the ambulance squad, the volunteer fire company, Save
A Pet, etc..

I tend to support local efforts that either
enrich youth and provide them with opportunities to grow and have options, foster the
arts, or seek to change the world by increasing the chance for others to have a voice. If
something can combine all of these it ranks high on my list.

There's a
fund that's been set up to aid the children of...I think it's the Davis Inlet Rez where
children were huffing gas because they had nothing else to do.
