Have you ever met anybody famous/well known? If so, who?

I went to a Star Trek convention when I was 12 and met John de Lancie. During the question-and-answer part of his appearance, I asked him about being naked on TV, and then later in the autograph line I stepped on his foot (accidentally of course). When I was 16 I met LeVar Burton while he was on his book tour for Aftermath - which is, by the way, a really great book.

I have shaken hands with some of the Powerful People of the world. Those handshakes did not alter history by one whit.

I know Millard Fuller, the founder of Habitat for Humanity, very well.  Does that count? My husband has met Pres. Carter a few times. Years before he bit his girlfriend's butt, I stood next to Marv Albert in an elevator.

I met Adam Pascal after a performance of RENT, got his autograph, and then talked to his mom. I've talked to Daniel Pinkwater and Errol Uys via email. I'm sure there are others, but I can't think of them right now. Or maybe there aren't others. *shrug*

Saturday I did a reading that was backed by David Amram ( http://www.fmp.com/amram    ) as part of a live CD recording to benefit Lowell Celebrates Kerouac. I met him back in October, too. Real nice guy.

I met Kevin Smith (Director of Clerks, Chasing Amy) when he did a workshop at my previous job. Also had a phone conversation with Ben Affleck before he and Matt Damon became famous. Almost had them come and do a workshop (same previous job) on their adventures in Hollywood trying to sell their screenplay (Good Will Hunting). Other than these and the occassional crossing of TV and films shooting on the NYC streets these are my brushes with fame.

Well I worked for a protege of Liberace's while I lived in Las Vegas. I spoke to Liberace (Lee to his friends) on several occasions on the phone. Does that count? Also while living there, I literally ran into Kenny Rogers while he was jogging on the sidewalk near the Sands. Neither of us knew who was more to blame for the collision (on foot) but he was nice enough, excused himself and went on his way. I knew for sure it was him when I came back that way in about 20 minutes and found him getting into his limo...just about where we had run into each other. People were swarming around him by then. I met Andy Robinson (the bad guy in the original Dirty Harry, and Ryan's Hope soap star) at an antique ship in NYC. A really down to earth nice man

My friends and I got to meet the members of the Goo Goo Dolls. We hunted them down after the concert and got to talk to all of them and hug them. It  was cool.

I've met Hillary Clinton twice when she came to town. Other than that, I've never really met anyone famous. I've been in several classes and was the 9th grade bio lab partner of Carl Sagan's daughter, but she's just a normal (albeight a tad rich and snotty) person in our school, so i guess you wouldn't call her famous. I don't exactly hob nob with the stars.

A couple, actually...have met Malachy McCourt, the actor and author, a  time or two, as well as Bill Whelan, who wrote the show RIVERDANCE...I went to college with the actor Steven Petrarca, who is on a show called "The Lot" on cable now...and I used to work for the show WALKER'S CAY CHRONICLES on ESPN, so I got to chat with its host Flip Pallot by phone quite a bit.

Well, i met robert picardo of star trek: Voyager at a convention. Didn't get to talk to him or anything, it was just a thing where you go up and get an autograph and leave. Similarly, there was the guy who plays Xander on Buffy the Vampire Slayer at the next year's con.. i didn't get his autograph tho, just heard him speak. I guess that doesn't count. Dr. Demento walked past me in the con hotel lobby. Most recently I met and talked with Margaret Weis of Dragonlance novels fame. That was totally thrilling for me, I was definately a happy bunny.

Two moments stick out in terms of famous people I met:

1. Jimmy Carter, I met him at a book signing for a bunch of poems he wrote.  It felt humbling being in the presence of a former leader of the free world, and an all around good guy, an effective ex-president.

2. Tom Landry: I met Tom Landry at a book signing, shortly after he was wrongly fired. This ranks as one of the highlights of my life. Tom Landry was the greatest coach of all time (in my opinion).

Billy Corgan, sorta. That was cool, he was like my idol at the time.  Bob Nanna, who is a freaking superstar to me, hehe. He is the lead singer of a band called <a href= " http://www.HeyMercedes.com   >Hey Mercedes</a>. I am in love with that guy. = )

Neve Cambel, Walt Flannagan, Kevin Smith, Bryan Johnson...and about six people from my high school are famous now. I guess Paulo Castanzo (he was in road trip and Josey and the Pussycats) and Katia Corriveau would be the most famous thus far.

I met Shaquille O'Neill once, but he wasn't very talkative (plane ride). I went to school (K-12) with a girl who is now an actress...Ali Larter. She was in Varsity Blues (the one with the whip cream bikini) and some other, only I can't think of the name. Do these count?

Quite a few, actually. Among the parents at the school my children attended in New York were Bob Rubin (Clinton's secretary of the treasury), Norman Mailer, John Cullem, Ann Jackson and Eli Wallach, along with a number of other performing artists.

I've met a few people who are famous! During my college overseas internship program, a few friends and I met Shawn Cassidy in a bar in London. He was acting so chummy with us. He wanted to start a neighborhood baseball league and wanted us to be on his team. I think he really needed some friends! We were a little embarrassed for him. I sat in back of Billy Baldwin and Chyna Phillips at a wedding. Billy danced on his table at the reception. I guess he wasn't getting enough attention just being Billy Baldwin!

I've met a few people from Detroit sports teams, like Joe Kocur and Scotty Bowman. I also saw Larry King at Nate 'n Al's in Beverly Hills. But I didn't meet him. He was just eating breakfast with some of his friends, and no one treated him any differently.

I've met quite a few famous people. I've met Jack Nicholson, Shelly Long, Janet Jackson, Magic Johnson, Michael Cooper, Michael Eisenberg (Disney CEO), Cher, Jamie Lee Curtis, Denzel Washington, Henry Winkler, Jim Carey, Matthew McConaughey, Adam Hann-Byrd (Little Man Tate), and a few others. I can't remember their names (I guess they aren't all that famous, then).

uh, yeah. . .Let's see. . .I guess the most famous would be Keith Richards from the Rolling Stones. . .I shook his hand, my light gushing seemed to make him laugh lightly, amused. . .and he signed my vinyl copy of my fave Rolling Stones album, Let It Bleed. . .It was really cool. . .He was at a fan signing at a Tower Records in downtown NYC back in October or November of 1992, promoting his second solo CD, I think it was called something like Main Offender(his first was Talk is Cheap, I remember that. . ) Oh well. . it was cool. . .Immediately after the signing I ran three blocks up the street and saw the Blue Man Group do their show Tubes. . .. . I was so happening. . . .
