Is
TV bad for you? Only if you watch Jerry Springer.
Doug2, 29
Overland Park, KS USA
NO for pete's sake. Besides, it's like
parachuting or bungie jumping? If you figure it's "bad" for you, then don't do
it...nobody's forcing you!
Fisch, 47

TV is a box of electronics. no, it's not bad
for you. However, the lack of ability to recognise that it's time to switch it off and go
for a walk now is bad for you. As is the lack of ability to know that it's not such a good
idea if you/your children watch whatever's on right now, if it's not suitable.
Alice, 21
Winchester UK
In some cases yes, especially when parents
that don't limit their child's TV watching or censor it.
Tracy, 24
Ocean City, NJ USA
In excess, definitely. As a needed break
from stress it can be a wonderful thing.
Triana, 29

No, it's just like any other form of
entertainment.
Melodi, 19

As with most things, TV is bad in excess.
Used in moderation, it can be informative and entertaining and provide an expanded view of
the world.

TV as a whole? No. Not as long as you do
other things. TV can help you see things you would normally never see. I don't know about
you, but I don't plan on hiking up to the top of Mt. Everest, or going to Cambodia to see
the temples of Angkor Wat. Maybe someday, but now now... But, I do believe that there are
certain things that probably shouldn't be on tv. Like the tampon commercials, or the
douche commercials. Those irritate me. Why do they have to put them on in the middle of
the dinner hour?
Nicci, 27

Prime-time TV is my life.
Laney

Like anything else, too much isn't
good. I think kids especially shouldn't watch too much. They get like zombies when they
watch for too long and should be outside playing,
reading, or doing somthing active.
Judy, 62

TV is not inherently bad.
Laura, 37

I don't think it's bad for ME. I'm very
picky about what I watch because I've noticed that regardless of what the 'experts' say,
TV does influence my thoughts and actions. It's gotten so that I watch The Animal Planet
99% of the time. I guess the only 'controversial' program I watch is "Everybody Loves
Raymond." As for other people, I think TV can be good or bad depending on what they
watch. People are only fooling themselves if they say it has no effect on them.
Reba, 50+

Nah.
Talia, 25

I don't think so. But watching too
much does dull certain thinking processes, I'm sure of it.
Felicia, 36

I suppose it depends on what you are
watching...if you are watching Faces of Death XXV, it probably is not good for you...
Pluto, 30
Underworld
Indiscriminate television viewing is
dangerous, particularly for children.
Jill, 61
Saylorsburg, PA USA
TV is bad in some ways as I will not get
things done that I need to do or I will stay up to see a show I wantto watch when I should
go to bed earlier and get up earlier. But I try to control the watching of certain shows
now.
Marci, 56
Diamond, OH
USA
I don't think so. TV is bad if you have
problems differentiating between fiction and reality, or if you let it control your life.
If you set your daily schedule around what's on TV, then you might just have a problem. I
watch very little TV because I just don't have the time, but I don't exactly think it's a
"bad" thing.
Hikaru, 19
PA USA
We can learn a lot from TV. But
healthwise, it doesn't create a problem for people, as
they often substitute tv for exercise.
Brad, 21

TV was an amazing invention. While it didn't
achieve the original visions of mass education, it's still a great way of getting
information out to the masses. I used to disapprove of TV, but after a couple years of
college, I lust after TV. I guess that's sort of bad; I watch all the worst things. But TV
is good for sewing, grading homeworks, and so on.
Cancer, 20
NYC, NY

I think TV devours time that can be put to
better use.
Tam
I think it can be if that's all you do all
day instead of working or even going out into society. Couch Potato
Stephanie, 25

I certainly rots the brain.
Janet, 44

Yes and no.
Karen, 22
Ames, IA

TV
certainly can change things about you, but whether it is in a good or bad way depends on
your opinion. It can certainly make you less social if you watch all day, but that can be
a good thing if that's what you enjoy. I enjoy watching T.V. It gives me good insight on
pop culture. Watching a good movie or TV show brings you to a place where you just forget
all of your troubles.
Eric, 20
Beverly Hills, CA USA
No. In fact, it is quite good for you.
Keri-Jade, 21
Brampton, Ontario CANADA
Well, if you spend your life doing nothing
but sitting there watching it, yes, it could be bad for you. TV is for entertainment. And
at some point, for education. I love the Discovery Channel (seriously rocks), the History
Channel, TLC, National Geographic Channel, heck even the Travel Channel. I love 'em. Oh,
and occasionally the news. And for entertainment, there's the Osbournes, and JackAss. I
love those shows. And Comedy Central has it's good days. I love to get high and watch TV.
But it's probably better to be out doing something good for the world instead of sitting
on your couch watching it from afar. But as far as it being "bad" for you, I
dunno, I wouldn't say that.
