What is your favorite movie and why?

Star Wars. Ever since I love the special effects and aliens and everything, but that's not why I loved the movie. I liked the real emotion in the movie, the realism and believability of it all. (I'm talking about the original star wars, not that piece of &*%$! "Episode One") I beleive that the whole movie was a coming of age metaphore that happened to be set in outer space

That is a hard one. I guess Breakfast at Tiffany's because I love Audrey Hepburn and it is pretty funny too. And of course, the end usually makes me cry.

My favorite movie is Leaving Las Vegas, for the powerful acting performances. Plus, it is about people who "normal" society would consider "lowlifes", and I like those people.

When Harry Met Sally. I used to think it was the perfect way to fall in love, but now it's just an honest and funny love story.

Without a doubt: Young Frankenstein. It gets funnier every time I see it.

Star Wars, because it's the best.

Gemma Lynn

I'm not a movie goer.

My favorite movie is "Village of the Damned". It is my favorite movie because it shows how intelligent and dangerous-minded children can be (even though these ones weren't even of the human species!)

The Nightmare Before Christmas, but I don't know why. I just like the storyline, the music, the animation, the voices, everything. I must've watched it about 200 times. I also like There's Something About Mary because it was hilarious, the funniest film I've ever seen. It had me crying with

Asking me for a favorite movie is a bit like saying which leaf on the tree do I like best. Favorites amongst recent box office showings: "American Beauty," "Being John Malkovich," "Fargo," and "A Simple Plan," but these change constantly.

1 yr ago I would have said "Its a Wonderful Life", now it is fast becoming "Fight Club," both because they speak something true to the heart of me. In many ways, Fight Club has negated my need to see IAWL ever again. I could never explain why.

Add to this list: 2001, Kicking and Screaming, The Thing, and Miller's Crossing and we have my top 5. (in no obvious order, negating the now unnecessary IAWL, you may cancel at anytime, and your satisfaction is guarenteed)

It tends to change depending on my mood, and I have several. One of my favorites is Pleasantville, directed by Gary Ross. The cinematography is beautiful and the use of color in contrast to black and white is absolutely captivating (the gimmick of the film is that its two main characters are sucked into an actual 50s family sitcom - and end up in black and white). A great exploration of what it is to be alive and be human - and what it means to look beyond Main Street and find out what lies just

Disney's The Lion King... I saw that movie 8 times at the theater. That movie really did change my life. I do not know if anyone reading this has seen it, but there is a point in the movie where Simba sees his father Mufasa in the clouds and Mufasa says " Remember who you are, you are more than you have become" I was at a bad point in my life and that line really stuck in my head....that I was more than I had become. SO I made some major changes and turned my life around.

True Stories (David Byrne). Just a very good visual film with a great soundtrack and some interesting lines.

Alias Irrelevante

FORREST GUMP. I loved the story, I loved the message, and I thought it was very clever how they strategically included old news footage into the story. Oh, and I adored the soundtrack! I remember turning to my girlfriends in the middle of the movie and saying "I LOVE this movie, this is fantastic!" I knew it would be my all-time favorite, even before it was over!

This is a tough choice! I love the Princess Bride. It has the right amount of fighting and capturing mixed in with old castles and true love.  However, the new movie Ever After, was a pretty close second. Then there are always 80's classics that we all love...Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink, etc. I   also love a movie called Corina, Corina...probably no one's heard of it,  but I just love it! I told you, it's a tough choice...so tough I can't make a decision!!

My favorite movie is "City of Angels" because it really makes you think about the things that go on that you don't see. Plus, I really love Nicholas Cage and I think he does an excellent job as Seth in the movie. He and Meg Ryan are magic together. :)

That's a hard question. I would have to say Singles, because it's got the kind of romance that isn't impossible to find if you look for it. And it's got some of the best lines in the world.

My favorite movie changes so much. Right now, I'd have to say it's Red Violin.

. . .a real good one(thanks Laura. . .). . . My favorite movie is Trust, the second movie commercially released by Hal Hartley. . . . . . . . It's stark, simple, sad and hyper-real. . . Very heavy and honest. . .I've seen it about thirty times and I cry every time. . . .

Too many favourites to be able to pick just one - many of them will never be considered classics. I think that a film will give each individual a different feeling, so what some may consider to be "The best" will be disliked by many others.
