Why are you contributing to the 2000 Day project?

Since I am the originator of this project, but by no means its life blood, I feel it only fair to answer the questions that are posed to others.

Felicia. 34
Somerville,
MA

I joined the 2000 Days project at the suggestion of a family member. Since then I have started to enjoy crafting a few well-worded sentences every day. Further, in my currently chaotic life, a daily message from the outside world is a shibboleth from the world of the sane.

I enjoy the questions, and I appreciate the honesty and diversity of the answers.

I guess the main reason is that I stumbled upon it and it got me thinking. I don't know if this will ever be of any use to anyone, but I would really like to think that perhaps one day in the future someone will see this and know just a little bit more about who we are and what we care

To touch the future!

Does it sound egotistical enough if I say that I am trying to better the world by spreading my opinions around like chunky peanut butter? I hope so.

I think it's interesting to see what other people's opinions are, how they live their lives, and to see how my answers compare with others. It's cool to see what others do and think in their everyday lives.

I think it's a wonderful opportunity for people to express their thoughts, and especially the thoughts of the time. Also it's very easy to respond.

For the fun of it. It's fun to get the questions, check out the responses,  try to come up with questions.

I thought it was interesting in that passive sort of way, and you can participate rather passively. Get an email. Respond if you want to.  Ignore it if you don't. If you get curious, read the other answers. *shrug*

I think it will be interesting to know I contributed to something like this-sort of a look back at the way life was?

I like to write. I think that it is a small way of getting my ideas out into the world.

I am very bad about keeping up with my own personal journal. I even bought a special magazine about creative ways to keep a journal, but I still haven't taken it seriously. I stumbled across the 2000 Day project when I was surfing the net on ways to participate in consumer surveys. I thought it sounded really cool! I look forward to the 2000 Day email every day. It's fun to think about a question and really focus on how I would like to respond. It's a great way to get me excited about my own writings.

I thought it was an interesting and original idea, and I enjoy answering surveys and questionnaires.

I think the 2000 days project is a good idea. They have a similar project going on called geo or neo or something like that. I think it was keo.  keo.org. somewhere. People can submit their essays, writings, whatever and they will launch this capsule into space for somebody else to find.

2000 days is pretty long, so ppl will come and go. Newbies and dropouts. I wonder if it'll run out of questions by then?

It's a good time. It's entertaining.

I contribute because I love the website, I think it is a great idea. I want to be a part of the preservation of our times for future generations. Also, I love reading the answers of all the different contributors and getting a feel for what different people are like at different stages of their lives. I hope maybe I bring a little insight to what someone my age, with a typical middle income upbringing in this area is like

why not? i like answering questions and sharing opinions, so it's fun for me.

Because my sister-inlaw said she would beat me up if I didn't!  Really, because I love the concept, and this has a very strange, and sometimes nasty year. It deserves to be documented in any and all ways

I stumbled across it in the New Year holidays and thought it would be a laugh, I enjoy reading other peoples comments and seeing their views.

Nikki, 27

Initally I contributed to 2000days because it's my friend's project and want to support it. But at this point, I would do it whether she was running it or not. It's interesting to see what others have to say. I'm amused and intrigued by many of the comments. And I'd like to see if I can stick with the project until the end.

Because I love talking talking about myself :) Actually, it's the best listserv I've ever been on. The questions, for the most part, are well written, well answered, and fun.  Bravo Felicia!
