What would motivate you enough to move to another state and / or country?

Better job prospects, living costs, house prices or a knowledge of the local language or culture.

Aly, 17
Cardiff UK

I can't think of anything that would make me move. I'll move to a smaller house one day, but I want to stay near my family.

Judy, 62
Easton, KS USA

Cost of living and quality of living. It is becoming more and more congested in New Jersey. When my kids are out of High school and in college, my husband and I are going reevaluate the living situation and live somewhere quieter and with less traffic.

Janet, 45

I need motivation?

I would move to another state for a job if I were broke. I don't know what would make me move to
another country. Maybe love would do it. When I was much younger, I thought about leaving if Nixon was elected. I stayed, and survived, so a bad government wouldn't necessarily do it.

Cathie, 53
Novi, MI USA

I would move to another state if my fiance had to relocate for his work. It would take wild horses and many assorted mild altering drugs being forced into me and on a daily basis to get me to even think about moving to another country.

Fisch, 47
Preston, CT USA

The job of my dreams, accompanied by a very large salary.

Not much. This is a very expensive state and when I first moved here, I suffered from culture shock for a month. Would burst into tears for no reason. I'm used to it now and love all the cultural
opportunities here and of course, all the nearby natural areas. Still, when we retire, there's no way we'd live here.

Reba, 57
Gaithersburg, MD USA

I'm motivated right now, however, my wife loves Georgia. She is the reason I was motivated in the first place to move to Georgia from Northern NY state.

Kevin, 35
Sugar Hill, GA USA

When my husband dies, I will move to be closer to my son and daughter-in-law so they won't have to grapple with the difficulty of long distance caretaking.

Jill, 61
Saylorsburg, PA USA

In the past I've been motivated by many things, mostly job opportunities. At this moment, to move out of state I think love or an ailing family member would be the only things to get me to move.

Felicia, 37
Lowell, MA USA

A great job for me. A great job for my SO. Some sort of calling limited to the new area. This would have to be after my parents have passed. Or. Retirement.

Cristin, 25
Frisco, TX USA

What has motivated me -- and in the past ten years (to the day) I've moved from New York City to London to Florida to Oregon -- has been a combination of people I love and a sense of adventure.

Jane, 63
West Linn, OR USA

A change if I felt it was needed or an opportunity if I thought it was there.

If my husband had to move for work. Or if something was wrong with this country or state and that one was better.

Stephanie, 27

a good job offer

Melodi, 19

I live 3-4 hours away from most of my family. It would be difficult to move away from them. I suppose a fabulous job could lure me away if it had the benefit of money and the ability to travel to see my family as needed. Mostly, I love Virginia. Her beautiful lush mountains, rich valleys, sweeping seaside, the change of season, the Southern sensibilities and precious history are all reasons to stay.

Cindy, 41
VA USA

It would have to be pretty big. Either big bucks, big opportunity or a big love. Because I don't know if I could ever leave my freinds and family.

Keri-Jade, 23
Brampton, Ontario CANADA

A really great job opportunity.
