Have you ever killed a mammal?

No. I have never even run over a wild animal on the road. Hopefully I never will; otherwise I would be traumatized for weeks.

Typical hit sweet innocent rabbit in the dead of night on a country road. Cried my eyes out and then when on with my life.

In the darkest of nights, the elder cows congregate and low for protection from the dread god Rintala, with one hand like a fork and one hand like a knife.

Have you ever sat and thought about how many individual cows/chickens/pigs have died JUST FOR YOU? There is a dizzying sense of power at the center of the idea, like in a tootsie-roll pop.

Other than the cattle holocaust performed for my pleasure, I broke one girl's heart and kicked one dog. Neither actions led to death, but, even so, both still make me feel terrible guilty.

Forty years ago, driving on a country road, I hit and killed a cat.  More recently, living in the country, I kill mice on a regular basis.

Well, if you consider a fish a mammal...then yes, but not for sport, I was actually going to eat the fish....and I once accidentally ran over a cat when I was learning to drive.

Only by accident in my car on the road.

Not that I recall.

I haven't intentionally killed an animal. By accident I hit a cat and killed it. It ruined my day, week, month... I still feel bad about it and it's years after the fact.

Not intentionally, I don't think. . .maybe not even unintentionally.

Yes, but it wasn't on purpose. I used to have a pet rat and I have a pet parrot. Once I went up to feed my rat and I wasn't really paying attention to what I was doing and ended up giving it parrot food instead. When I went to see it the next morning, it had choked on the parrot food. It practically destroyed me for a while, but now I have a new rat so I'm happier.

Nope.

I once accidently ran over a bunny with a car when I was 17 or so. I was terribly upset and felt very guilty. And I was on a roller coaster once where a bird dive-bombed the front of the coaster and was crushed on the tracks. I don't take responsiblity for that though.

No.

Only by eating it.

No. But if I really had to, for food or something, then I would. But never just for the sake of killing something.

Closest I've come to that is accidentally running over various rodents (one chipmunk, two squirrels, one skunk). I've eaten plenty of mammals though, just never got to put them in the chair and hit the switch.

Never.

I don't think so...not with my own hands anyway. I've never hit anything with my car and I don't hunt. I've had pets put to sleep, but that doesn't count.

Yes, indirectly, I had to take a dog I owned to the vets to be put down as it had severe hip dysplasia and I had been told that an operation would be ineffective.

I also found a wild rabbit lying in the road and took that to the vets to be put down.
As I eat meat I'm also probably responsible for the deaths of many mammals. But I have never killed anything intentionally or accidentally.

I've indirectly killed animals by eating meat regularly, and I have more directly killed mice before.
