How did you ring in the New Year?

I was home alone. I had Jay Leno on the TV, but I missed the ball coming down in Times Square because I had stepped away to check my email and lost track of the time. I realized it was midnight when I heard firecrackers in the neighborhood.

Usually I throw a New Year's Eve Party. I started with the parties because I always found that the event never meets your expectations. There is all this false hype around it and I always felt depressed by the whole thing. So we would have some people over and have a party. This year I did not have the party because I had a liptripsy on my kidney the day before.(I have kidney stones and what the doctors do is blast your kidney with sound waves in hopes of shattering the stones into small pieces so you can pass them a bit easier. HA Ha! It hurts like hell!). So I decided not to have the party. My kids who are 15 & 17 freaked out. All their lives we have had a
party. They just didn't know what to do. So we stayed at home and watched Edward Scissors Hands. Everyone was bummed. My son said it was the worst. So I guess next year, the party will be back on schedule.

Very low-key party at my place. Quickly switched on the tube so all the folks could watch the ball drop and toast with champagne. Post midnight was a bit more exciting : )

With good friends and good champagne. Is there any other way?

I went to bed at 10 and let the New Year arrive without me. On January 1, 2004, I was gifted with a magnificent sunrise.

My husband and I were at Felicia's house at midnight.

Laura, 38

I was doing some schoolwork, I didn't realise it had gone midnight until the fireworks ruined the peace. I detest New Year's Eve.
