Roast beef with gravy, coleslaw, potatoes and a vegetable. That was Sunday dinner at our house for years. There might be a variation on the vegetable/coleslaw, but roast beef was Sunday dinner almost every week. For the occasional variety, Mommy might make roast ham, fresh pork or
roast chicken.

My Grandmother's homemade ham and lima bean soup. She would butter up of thick slice of Italian bread, put it in the bowl and ladle that delicious lima bean soup over top! Other things include my Gram's salmon patties, my Korean aunt's Kimshee and rice, my aunt's caramel topped apple pie and from my Mom - Craft's macaroni and cheese and Campbell's chicken noodle soup!

Yes... my great-grandma's lemon cake. I only vaguely remember her, little bits and pieces, but when I have that cake, I can remember all the times we had it when we were over there.

Sunday roast, in particular beef. My grandmother, who died when I was 8, used to make mouth-watering roast beef, and every time I have that it reminds me of those times.

We were a fairly poor family but Mom found tasty ways to serve ordinary foods. One meal I'll always remember was her macaroni and cheese. It wasn't one of those vapid 99 cent deals. Oh, no. She made hers with lots of grated cheese and sprinkled cracker bits on the top and put it under the broiler for a few minutes. Makes my mouth water just to think of it.

Yeah, but I really shouldn't eat it...'Never Fail Fudge' (recipe on the back of marshmallow fluff). You know how a lot of people complain about school getting cancelled over the smallest storms and it wasn't like that years ago? I didn't need it to be. Every time there was a half foot or more
my dad kept all eight kids home and made fudge. Made the shovelling a lot easier.

Pot roast cooked with potatoes, carrots and onions makes me think of my Grandmom's house because we had that meal almost every Sunday after church. It was something she could put on the stove before she left and it would be ready when we got back.

Scalloped Potatoes & Ham. My mom made them, and I loved it. I cannot match hers to this day!!! When she says she's made some, I always get my butt down to her house to get some!!!

Kraft Macaroni & Cheese with Fish sticks are a Friday during Lent. Sunday after church pancakes, sausages, syrup and washing it all down with a glass of milk and then having your stomach ache as the pancakes expanded. Roast Beef, Mashed potatoes and green beans - Sunday dinners. Coming home from school on a raining afternoon with the kitchen windows all fogged up and
smelling Molasses, Snicker doodles or some other Cookie as you opened the door. Can you tell I have a food addict problem?

There are so many, Macaroni ans cheese(not from a box), soup and grilled cheese, stew, toast, and Laura,do not forget Farrell's ice cream shop with hot fudge, a good cup of tea with my sisters and mother. I'm sure there are plenty more, but these are the basics.
