Have
you had any major surgery? The only real major surgery I've had was a complete
hysterectomy because of cancer of the cervix. I've also had two lumpectomies for breast
cancer; rods inserted in both femurs to forestall major damage when my legs break and
cataracts removed from both eyes.

Nope, all I've had since birth is
removal of things like wisdom teeth and skin tags.
Karen, 21

Never have even been in the hospital even.
Felicia, 34

No, just a few cases of day surgery.
Alias Irrelevante
Fortunately, no. Nothing worse than a skin
graft when a skin cancer was removed from my nose.
Jane, 60

Nope. Don't have any on my schedule, either.

Not unless you count fishing around
with a needle to get a splinter out of my finger :)

Oh yeah. The most delicate way I can put it
was that I had my chances at ever concieving a child cut precisely in half. (LONG story.)

I had a double hernia operation when I was
8.

Well, I had surgery to remove a bone chip
from my toe....but I don't know if that is what you deem as "serious". I can
tell you it really sucked though, I couldn't dance for months and was on crutches for
ages!!

Yes. I had an appendectomy at 16, a
cyst removed at 19, another one at 21, a hysterotomy at 22 (that was the most serious), a
C-section at 31 accompanied by an exploratory procedure where they shift all your organs
around to decide what's wrong (YUCK), and what most do not consider surgery - an angiogram - at 43. On that last one, they make a small incision on
your upper thigh and snake a radioactive dye-filled tube into your heart - my doctor
suggested that anytime someone toys with the heart, it's major. Other than those, I've
been healthy as ever!

No, unless tonsilectomy counts, which i dont
think it does.
Adrianne
No, not yet! And hopefully, never.

When I was just turning 16 I had major
surgery on my knee. I had fallen off my bike and torn all the ligaments. I now have
3 long staples in my right knee.

Actually, no, I haven't had any major
surgery. I've been blessed in the fact that nothing serious has ever been wrong with me up
to this point in my life. Now, I don't want to jinx myself, but that's the truth. I trust
that God will always put me where I need to be.

well, tonsils and adnoids (sic?). As well as
some leg surgery due to an unfortunate run-in with a car. (Meaning I ran into it with my
leg and shattered two major bones at ankle level)
Jaden, 21

Nope, I'm too afraid of pain so am extra
cautious in everything I do in which pain would be a result or surgury of any kind.
Stephanie, 25
TX USA
Nope...thank goodness!
Tracy, 24

I had same day surgery for some
"female problems" a few years ago. That's it.
And I'm happy about it.
Laura, 35
Lowell, MA USA
Major? I guess that would be a
tonsillectomy when I was a kid and a hysterectomy about
15 years ago.
Reba, 51
Rockville, MD USA
Nope, but one time when I was 7 (I think) I got a concussion and had
to have a CAT scan. It felt like my head was splitting
open...t

I had surgery for a hernia when I
was very young. I barely remember, but I still have the
scar.

The only surgery I've
ever had, was having a tooth pulled out a few years ago. I hope that's as major as I'll
get. <knock on wood>

i wake up at around 3pm today, most of my 8
roommates are back from xmas vacation. i wake up to them cleaning the whole apt. not just
merely dusting and sweeping....major overhaul cleaning. cleaning the televsion
screen....cleaning the bathroom which had been cleaned only 3 days ago. moving furniture
cleaning. let me back up and say that i returned dec. 27 from xmas break because of work.
everyone else returned around this weekend. the place was not that messy--not anymore
messy than it's ever been with 8 people living here. yeah, i had friends over, but not to
party point, and i wasn't even in the house most of the time. anyway, the toilet
overflowed once, but i cleaned it up, no big deal. had i known when everyone was coming
back, i would have straightened up a little. not rip the place apart cleaning to the point
of sterilization, but just straightened up a tad. anyway, saturday night, elena,
kamili, elisa and i watched tv and generally hung out, just basic friendly socialable
stuff. no one said AN YTHING to me about clean the place was/wasn't. nothing. so the next
morning, i wake up to them sterilizing the place b/c i apparently can't rise to their
standard of living (i was raised modestly in a small southern rural town--my roommates
were raised in wealthy to upper-middle class suburbia, most of them had maids come in to
clean their house. maybe i do have a lower standard of living, but so fucking what? i kept
the place clean by my standards). anyway, so i just took a shower and left--i didn't want
to start the day with them bitching at me. i didn't come back until after midnight. beth,
my third roommate, a notorious bitch, tried to go off on me, tried to call me on something
i didn't do, like let the dished pile up and not clean the bathrooms (how fucking dirty
can one person get a bathroom in 2 weeks??>??) and other things, but she couldn't
really call me on anything as i did keep the house clean by my standards. anyway, so i
decide to keep away from everyone and go sketch in my room. a little la ter, beth comes in
and in so many words, kicks me out of the apt. i didn't fight back or do anything, i just
said ok, whatever. i was under the impression that everyone had powwowed and agreed on
this. so i took it that the tribe had spoken. later that night, one of my friends called
to hang out at a bar, so i went. later, he went home and i went to an all-night diner
where i sketched some nice graffiti pieces in my notebook.

I've
never had any major surgery...unless you count having your appendix removed
"major" surgery.
