Have
you given up anything for Lent? If so, what? If not, have you ever before? No. I've occasionally
given up something like candy, but I've come to the conclusion that I did so more for the
sake of my body than of my soul.

It has been years since I've considered
myself a Catholic and even longer since I've given up anything for Lent. However, I grew
up Catholic and gave up many things during Lent (candy, being mean to my sibilings, TV).

Ok, first of all, I am not Christian or any
other religion that officially recognizes Lent, but I have friends who do. So I
participated as a way to get rid of one nasty little habit. I use to be seriously addicted
to soft drinks. Not sure why, caffeine doesn't keep me awake or anything. Probalby
something to do with all the sugar. But at any rate, I would drink like 6-7 a day and
crave them. So I gave them up for Lent and after 40 days I didn't crave them at all. That was years ago and while
I still drink Dr. Pepper now and then, I can take it or leave it.

I thought about it. My cousin gave up about
a hundred things (but that's not the point, now is it?) Perhaps you could say that I've
given up giving up things.

I do not practice Lent. I'm not a
Christian. Even when I was, I thought Lent was
retarded.

No. As a Lutheran, I don't give

I'm not christian, so I don't have to give
anything up.

I've given up two things. one
of them--well, I'd rather not share what one of them is, and the other is drinking. I
don't drink a great deal, but I've been drinking a lot more than usual recently.

Having grown up in a Catholic household, I
was taught to do without something (or several things) during Lent. Mostly for me, it was
sweets or soda...but once I gave up my telephone priveleges and ewww, that sucked. I no
longer follow that set of beliefs, so years ago, I decided to eternally give up giving things up for Lent.

I've given up Ebay and some various
food items.

Seems to me if you've Lent somebody
something you should be getting back and thus haven't really given it up. Seriously, I
don't really know what lent is.
Alias Irrelevante
i'm giving up salt. It's really hard cuz i
put salt on everything. It was either salt or soda and I just couldn't give up soda.
Patty
Can you give up Lent for Lent? I'm not
Catholic, so no, I haven't given anything up.

No to absolutley everything.

Nope, I'm not really into that kinda stuff,
and even when I was, I didn't because it wasn't stressed much in my church.
Angela, 18

I'm trying to change my attitude to be more
open and less judgemental. I am spending more time in prayer and observing the guidelines
of my church for Lent.
Laura, 37

I didn't
even know it was Lent. I certainly haven't, as I'm not Catholic or whatever religion it is
that observes Lent.

I'm not
really even sure what Lent is all about. . . I'm Jewish. I know it leads up to Easter, I
think. But that's all I know, if it's right, that is. It's more often that people assume
I'm straight, rather than Christian. . . Interesting.

No, I haven't. And yes, I did back when I
was a kid and Catholic.
