If you could add
one more holiday to the calendar what would it be?A rest day...nothing more...just
rest.

I would add the holidays that celebrate my
tradition, Oct. 31 Samhain, Dec. 21 Yule, Feb 2 Imbolg, Mar. 21 Spring Equinox, May 1
Beltane, June 21 Summer Solstice, Aug 1 Lammas, Sept. 21 Autumnal Equinox

The obvious choice: Anthony Rintala
Observation Day. Although I would be just as happy with deleting the whole Daylight
Savings thing. What a waste of confusion. Ponder me
instead.

I have a number of private days that
I celebrate with joy and sorrow.. I'm a wishy-washy Wiccan and observe the days of the
equinox, the days of the solstices and the phases of
the moon. More and more frequently as I grow older, a bright sunny day offers an occasion
for jubilation.
All of these observations are private. I
have no desire--or need--to enforce my calendar on the general public.

Some kind of National Literature Day
or something when everyone gets the day off, cooks at home, and reads books to each other.
THAT'S a holiday I'd enjoy.

A day that celebrates WOMEN!

The "people who don't get
adequate compensation for the amazing job they do at work so they deserve a day off as
minimal acknowledgement of their awesomeness" holiday

A holiday in May would be nice. All
the other months seem to have a break or religious holiday of some sort. But that's only
through the eyes of a school student. Or perhaps a
holiday celebrating a saint or an event. That would be cool too. The calendar already has
enough holidays, but one more wouldn't hurt.

They've already got a holiday for
every day of the year! Okay, but I guess I would add a day of celebration for the person
who invented air conditioning, in honor of his/her
contribution to our society.

"The Official Anti-Holiday
Holiday" where there are no cards, no celebrations, no parades, no presents, no
travel, no special TV programming or newspaper
articles, no public recognition, no special sales or price cuts, but most importanly no
work / school / or responsibilities.
Felicia, 34

I would make a day for best friends,
a day that you take off from work or whatever you do
and spend time exclusively with your best friend. My best friend lives 9 hours away
from me, and I don't get to talk to her (or see her) that much anymore, so I would love to
have an entire day that I could spend with her going shopping, going to the movies, or
whatever. That would probably make me about as happy as Christmas time.

I think
National Choices Day would be a good thing to observe. It would be a day to not just
tolerate, but celebrate diversity and freedom of choice. Our entire country is founded on
the premise of freedom, and it's high time we showed our appreciation.
