What is the most
physically taxing thing you have ever done? The survival course at the 6th
grade week at camp.
Laura, 34
Lowell, MA
Climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. Actually one gruelling 15hr
day hard-core hiking in the White Mountains of NH comes pretty close - we actually began
to get delusional from fatigue. I love that stuff, though.
Liz
Medford, MA
Climbing a "dead"
volcano in the Rift Valley in Kenya. I've hiked much larger mountains, but for some reason
I just wasn't mentally prepared for that hike and as a result fought against the climb the
whole way. I ended up completely zonked and actually walked the rim of the volcano in a
daze. However, I learned that physical challenges are much more a mental state than a
physical one many a time.

As the end of one of my
sophomore semesters in college approached, I sat and typed short stories and a couple
research papers nonstop from noon on Sunday to 11am on Wednesday. I completely missed out
on the OJ verdict, a flood drowning my hometown, and I started hallucinating that last day
during a Latin exam.. I had trouble speaking clearly for a few days after. God bless Coca
Cola and the Marlboro Man, i got a 4.0 that semester.
Anthony, 24

Emptying out my parent's
house after their deaths. Both physical and mental.
