Do you bury your talents?
Sometimes, it draws attention away from me.
Aly,

I've been
told that I’m overly modest and I definitely know that I have skills
many folks have no clue about.
Felicia,

I have no
talents. Nothing. Nada.
Talia,

Tallahassee, FL USA
No. I use
them when I can, e.g., programming. If I'm not using them, it's due to
lack of opportunity, e.g., raising kids. (Mine are grown now.)
Cathie,

Some of them.
Others I keep out and polished with daily use.
Jane,

West Linn, OR USA
Yes I do,
unfortunately. I also ignore them and abuse them and misuse them.

Not bury exactly,
but I do not always cultivate my talents, nor do I explore the depths
of the ones I recognize and use.
Cindy,

I was born
with two talents that stand out in my mind. One is musical ability, which
I do tend to bury. The second is a natural writing ability, which I've
come to learn is better shared than kept to myself.
Fisch,

No, I try
to use them every day.
Janet,

Sometimes,
but I always leave a map so I can find them later. X marks the spot, matey.
Ryan,

yes, I probably
have a lot more potential than I put forth. I am just lazy.

In the Biblical
sense? Matt 25? No, I spend my money.
Alias

No, they have
a tendency to be buried by other things.
Karen,

Nope.
Not a shy bone in my body.

i
have a bad habit of playing dumb sometimes for other peoples sake. i dont
like people feeling awkward because i am a nerd. i like for people to
comfortable around me so i will play dumb to make them feel better sometimes.
my personal issues come into that also. i was never teased for being a
dork but i hate it when someone feels stupid around me. i dont not think
that people are stupid. well most people.
i think everyone has knowledge in various areas of life. i am book smart
and street smart. i deal well in common sense and practicality. i feel
that what i dont know someone else will know.
just because a person isnt book smart does not mean that they are stupid.
i hate that assumption. people focus on areas they like and they are knowledgeable
in things that interest them.
i believe that there are infinite areas of intelligence. the world stresses
on book smarts which makes everyone else feel stupid and thats totally
not right.
so yes i play dumb sometimes especially when i am around a person that
i feel is really intelligent in a an area that i dont know about and most
people dont recognize. i like learning about different things besides
school related areas. life is so much more than that.
my brothers are idiots when it comes to school because of their laziness
but one has focused his intelligence to street smarts, business, music
and communication. i learn a lot from just talking
to him. he is a master of conversation and gets anything he wants. whether
it be money, women, opportunities for friends in need. he is the hookup
person.
my younger brother is the sports master, he is totally strategy and can
apply that to all areas of life. if i cant think of a way to get around
or do something i look to him for his strategy sense. he is the king of
finance also. i think he should go into stocks or something but he wants
to be an nfl player. i think thats great too because he would definitely
be able to handle his money and the people that work for him like agents
and such.
when i talk to them i learn so there is no need for me to be my regular
self so i censor what i say to give them the floor and teach me some things.
i do this with friends and just about everyone.
there are very few people that i can truly shine with. they are my closest
male friend, my dad and a few teachers but that is it. i feel uncomfortable
doing that around anyone else.
