What
does snow smell like?Clean and crisp.
Jane, 62
West Linn, OR
USA
At times falling snow makes me feel as
though I am drawing in the purest of air. It is as though the flakes have wiped clean all
of the smells and added a chill into the bargain,. It is that smell of cool freshness that
I think is the smell of snow. Melting spring snow is another matter.

what a bizarre question... it smells like...

Well if it's yellow, you don't want to know.
But the white stuff? I suppose it smells like winter to me.

well the yellow snow tastes funny and smells
of ammonia....but regular snow is just cold and smells like nature i suppose

Well, I'm not really sure, but right before
it snows I can always kinda smell the cold (I doubt that makes sense but...it's true!)

Snow smells fresh. Clean. It
also smells like wet dogs and soggy mittens.

Well, Snow is rather rare here in
Texas but I think it smells like my grandmomthers old fashioned freezer unit. The coldest
of cold.

Jaden, 21

I've never noticed that snow has a
particular smell. I do register a prickling in my nose from freezing air.
Jill, 60

Snow smells like the closest thing there is
to heaven. Providing it is not yellow. LOL Sorry had to write that.
Rose, 40

Snow doesn't have a smell to me, it has a
tranquil and peaceful feeling while it is falling down from the sky. A certain stillness.
Rain has a neat smell. It starts off smelling like ozone and then it certain freshness to
it as it cleanses the streets and continues to fall. Although the smell of wet wool
raincoats on the commuter train back home, always smells like wet dogs.

Depends on where it's been or what's been in
it...

I think snow smells like ice. The kind of
ice they make slushies and snow cones with. Just a cold, icy smell. Every now and then
it'll have a chemical smell to it. But just like rain, you can smell it in the air. You'll
be outside and there will be a scent in the air and someone will say "Smells like
snow!" And just like rain, it has it's own smell. Now, I love the smell of rain. It
has a wet, nature-like smell to it.
Lisa J., 23

It smells mildly like firewood.
