you ever had a pen-pal?I had a penpal who lived in Massachusetts when I was in 6th
grade,but that's about it.
Bella Vista, AR USA I've always written to friends and family at a distance. Since I've been on line, I've developed several virtual friendships with people I've never met. Jill, 60
Saylorsburg, PA USA I've had two pen-pals. The first was when I was about 12 or 13. I corresponded with a girl from Japan. It lasted about a year. I still have two beautiful prints that she sent me. I should frame the. The other pen-pal was from Germany. We corresponded all through high school and college. She visited me for a month when I was 17 and I returned the visit when I was 20. Laura, 36
Lowell, MA USA NO. I have not. Janet, 44
E. Brunswick, NJ USA I've had a lot, actually. Karen, 22
Marshalltown/Ames, IA USA When I was about 8 or so one of my aunts went to England and I started writing to this kid from over their who was in the same cult. After the quick 'how are you' style conversations and brief discussions of living conditions the conversations got pretty thin. 8 year old boys don't have much to write about.
No, but I have some e-mail pals.
I guess in grade school I did, but I don't really remember. I've had a few informal email pals though.
Only briefly. I got bored and she gave up.
I had a pen pal from 3rd grade and up she moved away when i was young and i refused to let reality seperate us. Though few visits eventually led to the demise. She did pop in last month with her boyfriend and we all went out to lunch. Unfortunately i realized I didnt like the type of person she was and I doubt we will see each other again.
Yes, I used to write penpals via postal mail; however, now that I have the internet, I can communicate via e-mail and instant messaging.
yes, lots of them.
Yup. We started writing back in the days when pen and paper was the medium of choice. It must have been about 20 years ago now when we began writing. My penpal is from Argentina, but reads and writes English quite well. We finally got to meet when his brother won tickets to the USA and they stayed at our house back in '91. It was quite exciting to finally meet and we all had a wonderful time! Now we're both online!
Yes. In 7th grade I was connected with a girl in France through my French class, and a few years later I had a pen pal in Germany whom I actually met once when she came to the U.S. It saddens me that I've lost touch with both of them.
I was a member of Weight Watchers for awhile and met a woman through their message board. Neither of us are members of WW anymore but she and I still correspond.
I guess I have one now...me and another member of an on-line Rolling Stones Fan Club write to each other almost everyday to talk about the Stones and we have become friends.
Yup...when I have had the time...that has been my bag...of course, I tried to make them so far away that there aint no way I would ever meet them..of course, I did not follow through with..it became too difficult...hey, whatever is my bag...I thought I would knock myself out, why not?
PattyOnce, but we only had two complete correspondences, so not really. Eric, 19
Beverly Hills, CA USA In the truest sense that I didn't know the person...no. But when my best friend moved away after 6th grade we were definitely PEN pals (the time before e-mail). Tracy, 24
Ocean City, NJ USA Lemme put it this way... I tried to get one twice... and the first time was when I was seven. I still haven't heard back. The second time was when I was older, more experienced. They told me that the buisness was no longer in progress. So I' ve always wanted one, but never had one. Derya No, not really. A few email happy friends though. Ryan, 28
Riedlingen GERMANY never formally.. ... mothmc, 37
Los Angeles, CA USA Yes when I was in college I had a Japanese pen pal. We wrote to each other for about a year. Celeste, 30
