Do you think that the world's major problems are bringing us closer as a race?

Well personally I think they're dividing us as a race, but I expect other people think differently.

Shanna, 15

Well, I'd sure like to think so, and that's a really pretty picture. But somehow, I just don't think so.  It seems the more problems there are in the world, the more hopeless and defensive people get. That's just the way that I see it. Now, if something happened like, aliens landing on earth, and if people felt threatened enough by it, they may pull together then.  It always seemed that in school, if a teacher is mean and loud, the children in that teachers class tend to stick together more. I think they realize then, that they share the same opinion, and feel they should be more of a group instead of individuals. I think that makes them feel stronger. So, I'm kind of torn.

Usually the problem is that they're driving us furthur apart...

"Bringing us closer as a race?" I don't understand the question.

Not necessarily.

With all the racist people still out there, I think we would need a world crises to turn those racist bastards around.

No, I don't think the problems are bringing us together. I believe the divine that is within every human being is attracted to the divine in others. That allows us to transcend our differences.

I think the world's major problems are things a lot of the population refuses to believe in. Therefore, since they're stubborn, it's difficult to make progress. So no.

No. Too many people are too filled with hate and too caught up in their own concerns. The human race, by nature, is selfish and inclined to put their own desires and needs first.

No. I think technology is bringing us closer but paranoia, greed,  stubbornness and indifference are still keeping people a sizable distance apart.

Alias Irrelevante

In any situation there are always opportunities to work together or create division. I believe this is true of big problems and small. It really is up to each of us, I guess, to choose which way to approach these challenges.

I think the world's major problems are more of an exhibition of the divions in our race. The nature of ppl is far from resolvable.

I don't understand the question, so I can't answer.

Jane, 60

I don't really understand the question. I think that the major problems of the world divide people, not bring them together. Everybody has different ideas as to how to solve the major problems of the world, therefore, usually, in my opinion, the problems tear people apart, rather than come together

Yes and no -- in some cases, the world's major problems are being CAUSED by racial prejudice. I know you're speaking of the human race, but not everyone sees humans as only belonging to one race --which is precisely the problem.

There are always reasons to work together and always reasons not to. Not sure that problems being global in nature have much impact on which way we choose to life our life.

Felicia, 34

I hope so. We need to come together, in order to deal with the problems we face in the world today.

Depends on what you consider major problems and what race you're referring to.

Amy, 24

I don't understand this question. Are you speaking of the human race? If so, I suppose I would have to answer "yes" - the world is getting smaller. I don't know if that is as a result of problems, however, or just improvements in technology.

Reba, 51

If anything, I think they're bringing us apart. Everyone has different ideas about everything, and instead of using all of the ideas to benefit the human race, it's splitting us apart.

I DON'T THINK THERE IS ANY WRONG IN LETTING CHILDREN BELIEVE IN SANTA. I BELIEVE THERE IS A SANTA IN EVERYONES HEART AND IT   SHOWS IN THE SPIRIT IN GIVING AT CHRISTMAS. CHILDREN CAN LEARN THIS THROUGH WATCHING OTHERS GIVE. THERE IS A LITTLE SANTA IN EVERYONES HEART AT CHRISTMAS I BELIEVE.

I wouldn't know how to begin to answer such an open-ended, non-specific question. . . . . .Uh.. . . maybe? I kinda doubt it?. .
