What
do others in the world think about your country?I think only our
ambassadors could know this and communication is essential.

They wish I'd turn it down, or at least play
rock instead.

The only time I've ever had someone from
another country comment on the United States was when I was in a chatroom and someone from
Ireland hated the U.S. with a passion...

It makes me angry to think of how the USA is
thought of by other countries. (Have you ever heard of the word "sucker?")
The USA gives aid and assistance to any country who asks - and some who DON"T ask -
but yet most countries don't like us and walk all over us.

Well I know for a fact France doesn't like
the americans because when there was the war ( I can't think of the name of it) the
american soliders rapped girls over there. Even though we liberated there country they
still have a thing against us. And if you go over there don't just ask anybody for
directions because they gave me wrong directions to the louvre. And they do that alot,
they think it's funny.

Depends on who you talk to -- either
we are the Land of Opportunity or the Land of Capitalist Running Dogs. :-)

Don't know...haven't been outside the
country much...I'd imagine they have their own problems to worry about.

Much of the world either admires or envies
America. Others resent it. My English connections think, just now, that we are rather
ridiculous with our presidential squabbles.

I don't know. Probably that everyone lives
and speaks like the Royal Family and the country comes to a standstill for afternoon tea.
I can tell you that it's NOTHING like that and never has been. The reality of the
situation is much more grim.

Currently, lots of them think that
politically, it's a great big party over here - with games for one and all. I'm speaking
particularly of some in the UK who I have been in contact with lately. I will say that
most would still like the opportunity to make a living
here, or at least visit for a long while - and most really envy our luxuries. But between
the whole Clinton/Lewinsky thing and this voting cluster-you-know-what...we've become
somewhat of a laughing stock to many. Particularly with the lousy presidential voting choice we had to begin with!

America is a place of beautiful people with
tons of money who are all able to follow their dreams.
The United States is a rich, spoiled rat who wants everything her way.
The USA is a bubble-gummy place where where Coca-Cola and McDonalds are the national meal.
Hard as it is to beieve, a good deal of the world probably doesn't even think about us
despite our ego centric ways.

The United States is the focus for
global criticism--mostly negative. What great ones do
the less will prattle of. Every third world nation and a good proportions of our more
affluent European and Asian neighbors hope to grow up and acquire the clout of Uncle Sam.

I dunno, you want me to guess? That we're
rich, wasteful, spoiled, indecent. We hog all the world's money, put on airs like we're
the best, act like we own the world. They may also think, "Ddespite all of the
above, I want to go there and get a piece of that pie."

Well, my friends, I can tell you
first hand, and unfortunatly, it's not good. My husband
is from Bombay, India. He came to the US 2 years ago and he's working on his 3rd. He is
the only one in his family to come here, and he will be the only one of his family to ever
come here. The reason is,the majority of the population in India, especially thier women,
see the USA as a the land of no morals, and no respect. They say, the women here, they
show their bodies, their boobs are all hanging out and poking through their clothing, they
show their whole legs and they see our women (not all but most) as whores. Loose and with
no respect. They see that they kill their own unborn babies, the wives go to discos and
night clubs and bars, they don't take care of their children, their family, their husband.
So thier reputation is bad there. My husband is always complaining about "Americans
do this, that , they don't use their brains, they sue everybody over small matters, they
fight over small matters, India is not like that." The only people he tolerates is me
and my family(the in-laws). They feel the men here should not beat their wives(duh).
Cheating with women here and there, Oh, and not to mention the way the Americans sleep
with so many different people. He says "they run from here to there trying this dick
and that dick, trying this pussy, that pussy,etc...girls cheating on their boys, boys
cheating on their girls, kids watching bad movies with their parents(talking about the
violence and sex on tv). They love US country but they don't care at all for the culture.
The parents there won't send their kids here because of the culture, they are afraid it
will spoil(ruin)them. They do however find the that education-wise and the colleges are
very good. Indians give respect to each other. So, as you can see, the USA does not have a
good reputation there. As for me, I love where I live and I would never want to live
anywhere else, but I can definetly see his point.

Others think of my country as a wonderful
place to live because of the freedom we have and other country's don't have. I do believe
if you don't like America go live some place else and you will learn how other countries
live and you will want to come back. America- love it or leave it.

I think my country (the US) is the
laughingstock of the world right now with all these presidential issues.
Karen2, 14

I think it depends on the country. Some
countries think that the U.S is full of laszy people and others think we are great and
independent and free and wonderful. Some think we are stupid and do things foolishly and
are weak. I like it here. I mean, the chances of being born in a 3rd world country is as
possible as being born here. I consider myself Lucky.
Stephanie, 25

I suspect others perceive America as a very
arrogant country, always sticking its nose where it isn't wanted. I think others see
Americans as very self-absorbed, rich, and rude.
etoile, 19
Washington, DC USA
Other countries probably think of us as
arrogant, power hungry, and our politicians as lying, whining crybabies. Of course, to
quote Degeneration X, if they don't like the US, I've got two words for 'em: S*ck it!
Mick, 30
Chicago, IL USA
Right now others are probably laughing at
our country, with the Presidential Election problems. As a whole, I think others are in
awe of the power and opportunities found in the US.
Kevin, 33

*laugh*
Exactly that.
