| What
is your favorite TV commercial?I really love the Geico Insurance commercials this year.
Especially the one where the dog looks over the shoulder of his owner opening a car
insurance bill...and then rolls onto his back hysterical laughing. I also love the Coke
commercials with the Polar bears.
Fisch, 45 Preston, CT USA I liked the pets.com commercials, but now they don't show them anymore. Jeremy, 13 Highlands Ranch, CO USA What is my favorite TV commercial? Well, there are so many that its hard to say. But the one that comes to mind that they show in the present time would have to be (i think its a phone company commercial or something that has to do with long distance) the one where a young man and an old man are watching a football game on tv and they start to get excited when heir team scores and they start jumping around, screaming and cheering, and then they both pull their shirts off and they show an old woman outside on the street looking up at the old man jumping and cheering and his belly is jiggling, and she says something, i'm not sure, but the men on that commercial really make me laugh. I love a commercial that's silly and crazy. So there it is. Lisa J., 22 TN USA The recent Rice-A-Roni commercial where all the kids are sitting at the dinner tables and saying, "yuck", "do I hafta eat this?", etc. It is just too cute! Stephanie, 25 TX USA I don't have one. I'm very good at "tuning out" commercials. Jane, 60 West Linn, OR USA i LIKE THE COMMERCIAL THAT ARE THREE LITTLE GIRLS TALKING ABOUT THEIR HEALTH INSURANCE AND ONE HAS TO CHOOSE HER DOCTOR FROM A LIST AND THE SECOND CAN CHOSE WHO SHE LIKES AND THE THIRD LITTLE GIRL SAY "YES, IT WOULD BE NICE TO CHOSE MY OWN DOCTOR" A LOT OF TRUTH TO THIS WITH OUR HEALTH CARE CHOICES TODAY. Marci, 55 Diamond, OH USA When we were kids a commercial had a big effect on us. It was the first infomercial I can rememeber and it featured a woman screaming "Wow what a bargin!" She had a bizarre green aura around her. Behind her they added a picture of a busy NY city sidewalk. Because of this commercial we HAD to look up 'Faux' in the dictionary to see what kind of pearls faux pearls are. FAUX = FAKE "All this can be yours for only $19.95 but wait! Order now and get a second set of imperial faux pearls for only $24.95! "Wow what a bargin!" Call now! Jami, 27 Lowell, MA USA The Tango advert when the guy is at his girlfriend's parents house when he makes a pass at her father by squeezing his leg to try and get out of the relationship and then her father squeezes his leg back. Shanna, 15 Cardiff ENGLAND Of all time? They had this commercial for a vacuum I think...anyway, they had this cat sitting on some stairs and the thing sneezes and all its hair flies off and all over the place. I've had cats all my life and just love them so I thought that was the funniest thing I had ever seen!! Tracy, 24 Ocean City, NJ USA The new Intel Pentium III commercial (which you can see at http://www.intel.com/home/pentiumIII/spots/index.htm ) Melodi, 19 Hlliard, OH USA Do fake ones count? I like the one they had on SNL a few years back that advertised this photocopier that was specially designed for backsides. Back in my days of third shift security that would have come in handy way too many times. Alias Irrelevante My favorite commercial song is the "Chock Full of Nuts" coffee jingle. I sing it whenever we have Chock Full of Nuts coffee. Laura, 35 Lowell, MA USA I like commericials with a bit of wry humor. Dominos "Bad Andy" spots are funny. The pets.com with the sock puppet are cool. And Volkswagen commercials are unique for car commercials (not a single shot of the car driving down a windy road). Of late, though, I've liked the Gap's Holiday spots which are not funny at all but seem a bit magical. I know a bunch of skinny youths dressed in Gap clothes playing in the snow to holiday toons seems cheesy, but works for me. I don't get the "Old Navy" commericals. Felicia, 34 Lowell, MA USA that geico one when the duck says "smaller bill" Chris2, 15 Providence, RI USA I hate commercials!!!!!! Savannah There's a commercial thats like a public service thing or something and its so funny. Its supposed to get women to do self-breast exams. There's some teenage boy whose like, "Ladies, are you afraid to do your breast exam? I can help." With some fake number on the screen. Then he tells you that there's professionals standing by to take your call, and it shows a bunch of his geeky friends winking etc. to the camera. Its soooo funny! At the end it tells you on the screen to do it yourself. Its contraversial, but I think its effective. Dianne, 16 Oshawa, Ontario CANADA Oh, I am partial to the Taco Bell commercial. Yo quiero Taco Bell. Mick, 30 Chicago, IL USA The Natural Botanicals one in the courtroom with the guys who come in & sing and wash the chick's hair. It is pure genius. Karen, 21 Marshelltown/Ames, IA USA I don't watch television. Jill, 59 Saylorsburg, PA USA Commercials aren't usually the kind of things I have "favorites" of, but I will confess to being one of the gazillion people who called Volkswagen to get the name of that Nick Drake song they used in one of their ads (the one with the friends out for a drive at night). Oh, and there's a Taco Bell commercial that makes reference to the song "My Sharona" that's fun. Kim, 30 New York, NY USA I think my favorite was the Gap commercial for cords when they sang "Mellow Yellow", even though they don't play it anymore. Karen2, 14 Boston, MA USA Only people who live in the Chicago area would be familiar with it, it is for Eagle Auto Insurance. They have made three commercials now, all incredibly bad. I love them though because they feature this superhero eagle thing that lays eggs with insurance rates inside. They are hilarious, I laugh every time I see one. Maggie, 20 Sandwich, IL USA My favorite commercial is for the Polaroid i-zone camera and sticky film. Two guys are beating each other up in an alley with a crowd of scroungy looking spectators. We as viewers never see the fight. We only see images of the fight, blow by blow, pasted to the combatants(taken with the sticky film). It is fabulous. Tina, 31 Medford, MA USA I have more favorite commercials than TV shows. I especially like ones with kittens or puppies. But one I like at the moment is the one for Pentium products. I wonder how they do that? Reba, 51 Rockville, MD USA "Come back, I'm all full of sunshiney goodness!" It was directed by Spike Jonze...and I don't remember what it was for. Anthony, 25 Baton Rouge, LA USA Nothing that they show regularly on my TV. But I have watched one or two of the "Best Commercials Ever" shows, and I saw a great one on there once: someone's making a meal in a kitchen. There's all this great detail and the sharpness is turned way up. The guy pulls some eggs out of his fridge and puts them on the counter as he prepares other things. Then he remembers and looks back to see an egg rolling for the edge of the counter. The commercial goes into slo-mo at this point: the guy steps hurriedly for the counter, the egg reaches the edge, the guy's eyes widen in panic, the egg falls, and as the egg reaches the floor... The egg stops on the floor, unharmed, and it is the guy himself who shatters into million of pieces, raining down on the floor. I was truly amazed. I'd like to see more commercials like that, where the artistry and imagery blow me away. Jesse, 25 Bowie, MD USA My favorite tv spots are all the "got milk?" commercials. They are all so funny. The best by far, though, is the one where the guy is working in a museum that has a lot of stuff dedicated to the duel between Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr. As he's eating a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, you hear a voice on the radio say something along the lines of, "And now, for our $10,000 question, who shot Alexander Hamilton in that famous duel?" And of course, the radio station calls the guy in the museum for the answer. He picks up the phone, and they ask him, and he tries to answer with his mouth full, but the guy can't understand. He tries to pour some milk, but he's all out. . . so he's all frantic, and they're going to shots of all this stuff about the duel in the museum (like "the bullet") and finally the radio guy hangs up on our friend in the museum. Then it goes to black, "got milk?" ahhh, comedy. Eric, 18 Beverly Hills, CA USA Right now the WassUp? Budweiser commercials are my favorite. Kevin, 33 Sugar Hill, GA USA "What kind of cookies did you leave Santa?" "I didn't leave him cookies. I left him cheese!" BEHOLD THE POWER OF CHEESE! I still fall off the chair laughing when that commercial comes on. My second favorite is, of course, the Mr. Roboto Volkswagen commercial. I'm a closet Styx fan. Amy, 23 New Orleans, LA USA |
