What do you feel about McDonalds admitting the use of beef-fat in their french fries?

Come again? Say what?…

Frodo
age unknown, parts unknown

I don't believe it matters what they use....people will still go there and will always buy fast foods. Personally, I can't stand it. But I know dozens who love it.

Personally, I haven't been affected at all by the grease in the MacDonald's fryers. I'm not a fast food person. I've always heard that potatoes fried in beef fat are superior to those fried in vegetable oil. I also know that vegetable oil is lower in cholesterol. I am sure and certain that someone should have made absolutely sure that the fry vats in India were free of the taint of beef--or for that matter, the taint of pork. Through the State Department a certain amount of money has been invested in MacDonald's international marketing. MacDonalds represents the United States to billions of people. I resent being represented as unfeeling of other people's religious beliefs.

I have no opinion.

I didn't know about it, and their fries are really good--I couldn't taste any beefy stuff--so I don't really care. I'm more traumatized that McDonald's Monopoly was rigged.

I didn't know they had. They claimed to have eliminated that years ago. I  don't approve of deception.

Wasn't aware that was an issue.

I don't really care-I don't ever eat anything but McFlurry's at McDonald's anyway. I think their stuff is nasty.

I don't care. Those fries are amazing.

Jaden, 21

It really doesn't make any difference to me, I don't eat their french fries. I like Burger King's french fries the best, and when I do go to McDonald's, I usually only purchase either a sandwich or chicken nuggets or a drink

If the beef-fat keeps their fries the best in the country, I'm all for it. You are eating a burger with those fries, are you not?

Stephanie, 25

Not fair to vegetarians and animal lovers if they have been decieved.  However, typical corporate behavior and not at all shocking. You'll still my car at the drive-up window. One Quarter Pounder with Cheese please.

It is upsetting to me... people that have made the conscious decision to avoid animal products and byproducts shouldn't have to worry about beef fat being put in their fries. It is bad enough that the healthy alternatives (salads, potatoes, etc.) at fast food restaurants cost a fortune compared to the crap they serve up to the general public. Why do they need the beef fat in the fries anyway?

I haven't been back there since I heard. No, they never explicitly said the fries were safe for vegetarians, but when they announced they're no longer cooked in lard I think that was the clear implication. Bastards.

I don't like mcdonalds anyways so it doesn't really matter to me.

Dianne, 16

well - I already knew (this story seems to "be announced" again every few years, and theres always a big fuss, as if it was the first time they'd admitted it. BUT I think it's appauling that they were not clearly marked as vegetarian. It's bad enough not telling the people who are vegetairian what is in them, but hiding ingredients from people who do not eat beef for religious reasons, or because of an allergy or something is even worse.

Alice, 21

I have no hate towards them cuz I love their fries but I don't know how I'd feel if I couldn't eat meat and I ate their fries not knowingly.

Patty

Well, they are entitled to use beef fat in their fries if they want. if they were previously LYING about it or actively hiding that fact, they should be skinned alive.

Talia, 24

I, myself, couldn't really care less to be honest with you. I'm not a vegetarian, but I could understand vegetarians being upset with it.

it's inhuman...just disgustingly gross...bye bye mcdonalds french fries!!

Mandi, 16

Although I don't think it is right, any vegetarian eating at McDonalds is taking a risk. Actually, anyone eating at McDonalds is taking a risk.

Ryan, 28

Now I know why I'm an In-n-Out Burger fry fan.

Justin, 16

McDonalds has the best fries, so who cares what fat they use.

Stickman, 27

I personally haven't eaten at McDonald's in over six years, but I think that sounds like a good way to fry fries. Did McDonald's ever deny that they used the stuff? If they didn't, it's simply a matter of the vegetarians being too ignorant to ask. If they did, well, I'm not surprised, and the vegetarians shouldn't be either. They know very well that the fries are cooked in the same fryer as chicken and everything else.

Kristin, 20

Somehow I feel that if you were a strict vegetarian or did not eat beef because of religious reasons, McDonalds would be the last place you would go to to buy fast food to eat.

I try to drink 8 glasses a day, but I just don't have time to. I am a high-school student and I don't usually bring water to class. On the weekends I usually do drink 8 glasses a day. It flushes your system out and is really good for you.

Heather, 15

As a person who has just spent the last year trying to getting rid of 7 kidney stones, I drink more than 8 glasses of water a day. More like 16. They say dehydration is the leading factor for kidney stones, but I have always drank a least 8 glasses of water a day. So you can always find me

uh. . .i'm glad they admitted it. . .i regret they now are sorta obliged to stop doing it, because it really made the fries taste better. .

I think it's a darn sham that McDonald's uses beef-fat in their french fries. I think it's nasty and shouldn't be there at all.   The McDonald's corporation really has got a lot of nerve to do that!
