If you could have the government stop paying for one thing what would it be?

I think the government funding is fine just the way it is. I believe all areas of the funding from gov't are required. No tellin' what would happen if we took out one or two of these programs.

This is a hard one. And you know why? The government pays for too much, true, and takes a lot of people's free agency away and/or lets them live on 'handouts.' But in every case, there are recipients who are 100% deserving of the money they get.Like many people, I don't like welfare. I hear about all the fraud perpetrated. But take it away? Never! There are some people who probably couldn't afford to live if it weren't for welfare.

I don't know. Anything that hurts the environment, anything allowing too much conservative control, anything supporting prejudice or the Army. . .I'm not sure what all gets government funding, and people would hate me if I threw out the military, so. . .

It's a toss up.... either Dick Cheney's salary or George W. Bush's salary. Give them the pink slip!

The water subsidies for irrigating farm land in the Great Plains. If the crops can't be grown with local rainfall, they should be grown elsewhere.

I WOULD HAVE THE GOVERNMENT TO STOP PAYING WELFARE PAYMENTS TO THOSE WHO REALLY DON'T NEED IT. THERE ARE SO MANY THAT NEED IT AND CAN'T GET IT. I HAVE SEEN FOOD STAMPS BEING TRADED FOR DRUGS. THIS IS NOT RIGHT.

That's an odd question. I come from a country where most people want the government to pay for more stuff.

It's my personal belief that government as a whole needs to be rethought. The bureaucracy and red tape that's supposedly necessary these days is mostly useless and incredibly wasteful. I suppose if I would have to choose ONE thing, it would be the division of government that keeps track of every tiny little bit of minutiae in every person's life. No one has the right to know that much about me. Oh, or maybe the part whose job it is to buy multi-million-dollar equipment and then lose it. (I just want to know....how do you lose an aircraft? Do you accidentally stick it in your pocket and run it through the wash?)

hard one. . .usually i think about what i'd like the government to pay more for. . .like health care. ...maybe some social security for people who are above a certain income bracket, especially if they can opt for it. .

Anything that had to do with spending money on any morestudies on finding more possible negative effects of marijuana that just aren't true. I'm fed up with are federal government wasting tax money on such studies that don't add up with that issue in particular. I find it really hypocritical (to some extent) that are Federal Government does that; when 7 people are supplied marijuana by the Federal Government each month! Now that's an outrage!! If you go to altavista.com , and you type in (type in with quotation marks around it) "Compassionate Investigational New Drug program", there are 21 results to back up the truth that such a program existed at least at one time; including http://www.flcourts.org/sct/cyber/1998/mar/jenks.html    as a definete ligitamite source of mentioning of the "C.I.N.D. program". Another definete ligitamite source of this information is
