Have you ever feared for your life?

Yes I have. I was on Spring Break a couple of years ago and we got lost in a nasty part of town. my friend got out to get directions in a gas station and I stayed in the car. This crazy man started pounding on the window, demanding money from me. He had a bottle of booze in one hand and a knife in the other. It took the convienience store clerk coming out with a gun to scare him away from the car.

Scary.

Only in rare moments when a car or large truck has pulled out in front of me and I've had to leave the road.

Only very briefly when I blazed through a red light on a dark and rainy road late one night. I was glazing and realized it was red as I passed under it at 50+ mph. As the reality of what I had done and what could've happened (no one was coming the other way) set in, it felt like a spark had gone off in my brain and I quickly got nauseous for the rest of the ride home.

Just this morning I found out that somebody wants to kill me. But that stopped bothering me when it occurred to me that she’d be doing me a favor. You gotta have a sense of humor about these things.

Home means a place where I can be myself and not worry about anything else, where I feel safest and the most secure of any other place. I feel that way at my grandparent’s house most of the time, that’s where it’s the strongest.

Yes, one time in college. But it’s way too long of a story and not a pretty one either. So let’s just say my answer is "yes".

On many occassions I have opened my big mouth (to strangers) when something is offensive to me. I have been threatened, spat on and made to fell not so safe. My principals seem to win out and I come out unscathed. I don’t think I have ever felt that much fear? Luckily

I would have to say that there was only one time. When I was 16 I  had a horrible case of MONO and I was mis-diagnosed 3 times and my throat had swollen to the point that my airway was being cut off. I was afraid I was going to die just because every moment my throat  was getting smaller and smaller and so my airway was as well. Luckily thanks to the miracle of steroids my life was saved and I am fine. other than that - nothing even close to life threatening - at least not yet.

Yes, usually when I’ve done something stupid. like been on the subway alone, at midnight or when I’ve had to make a left turn at a busy intersection. God I hate left turns.

No, can’t say that I have. I’ve had a fairly dull life in that respect.

Yes, in a situation I’d rather not rehash. For once keeping my mouth shut? My my, will wonders never cease...

I was in a gas station in New Orleans while it was being robbed. No guns were pulled, and they were openly stealing beer and food. They paid no attention to my group of friends. We walked out, got in our van and left. The guy in the bulletproof booth looked more bored than scared.

Fortunately, I’ve not ever been in a life/death situation. Once I came pretty close to buying the farm travelling south on a very icy, snowy day on the Taconic Parkway in upstate NY. I lost control of the car, realized that I was about to go over the guard rail and then regained control of the vehicle. But I wasn’t afraid.

Back in the 70s or 80s I read Dr. Wayne Dyer's first book, "Your Erroneous Zones". He said that you were responsible for what you did now and you shouldn't blame your parents or upbringing. That was the first time I had ever heard that. I know it's widely accepted now but it wasn't then.
