How
do you feel when a celebrity that you are more or less apathetic towards passes away?I came upon your
website on a lark, meaning...I was standing in my kitchen tonight and suddenly I felt a
strange sense of either emptiness or serenity while thinking into the future, three years
hence.. about 2005. I have a feeling it will be an important year for the entire world.
Not an oddball year as was 1997, but a year such as 1945. I then did an internet search on
2005, and found your website.

Wierd.
Even if i didnt KNOW them know them or particularly care, i still knew them, who they
were.. I guess i feel somewhat sad. Particularly if its a sad case like Laine Staley or
Lisa Lopes and not merely old age like Uncle Miltie.

I would feel more or less apathetic. While I
have a standard and generic sympathy for the bereaved family--who are, after all,
strangers to me, I also have a resentment that someone would think that this particular
death is more important than the hundreds of others happening on that day.

More or less apathetic.

The apathy continues.
Alias Irrelevante
More or less apathetic.

Whenever I hear someone dies, I always feel
sorry for the family. Almost everyone has someone who'll grieve when they're gone.
Judy, 62

exactly that way... apathetic.

I usually think quickly "Oh, that
person died" and then put it out of my mind.

Absolutely no differently than when any
other person I am apathetic toward passes away.
Fisch, 46
Preston, CT
USA
Well...apathetic.

I feel a little bad, only because a fellow
member of the human race who has contributed at least something is dead. but for the most
part I am annoyed because I know that I will have to deal with people talking about
his/her death and being upset about it.

Your question just provided the answer to
your own question...

It really doesn't phase me much. A quick
thought about the reality of life and death, and possibly the consideration of their
impact for good in the world, but usually just a passing thought.

I am very emotional, and I feel sad
when I hear about anyone dying. I think about their
friends and family members - the people close to that person who are left behind. I try
not to think about it too much, because I know that many, many people die every day, and
every death is important and sad for the people left behind. Grief is not less for the
family members of an anonymous person than it is for the family members of a celebrity.

It depends on what they contributed. I was
sad when Sir Anthony Quinn passed, as he was a wonderful actor. Same with Oliver Reed. I
had only just discovered him as an actor, and Mr. Reed had been in over 100 films.

I feel sorry when anyone passes away, be it
a celebrity or not. But, it's a life process and I don't worry about it or dwell upon it.
Doug2, 29
Overland Park, KS USA
Um...apathetic? I'm not sure I get the
question. If you don't care, you don't care.
Triana, 29

Are they legendary? I wasn't a huge fan of
Jack Lemmon, but I was upset when he passed away, because the world had lost a legend. In
a way, though, he had already passed, his glory days were over, so to say.q

More or less apathetic.

apathetic

Every time they write that stuff in the
news, I wonder how many other thousands of people died that day that aren't being
plastered on the front page of every newspaper. Then I remember all the horrible things
that are happening, all the really bad reasons why so many people die each day. We care
when a celebrity dies of natural causes, but not when some random Joe is killed by
starvation or AIDS?
